The windy road was tricky getting to the campground. Its very remote. I had a 22 foot travel trailer. Once I got there, the site was large and very acceptable. Viewing the Elks was a great extra.

Mid-Sept. was a great time to see the elk "performing" every morning and evening. An awesome show!

We've been camping at Cataloochee for years, so the unpaved section is not a surprise, but the condition of the road was. It did not seem that any work had been done to reduce the washboards and potholes in the road. This does need some attention, as it will only get worse. The only thing that kept me from scoring this as a 5 star was the condition of the road. Everything else was great, especially loved getting to see one our favorite campground host, Janet.

Campground is always great. The road in needed help, badly wash-boarded and rough.

Campsite was great. Road was horrible, either a washboard or pothole all the way in after hitting the graveled portion of the road, including the paved portion on Park lands. To think of all the nice rail fences being built along the roads in TN and as always, nothing being done on the NC side of the Park..

We loved the Cataloochie campground! Even though it was 4th of July it was very secluded and felt like we had the place to ourselves on hikes and walking around the campground. We drove a 27 ft RV up to the campground and it was fine as long as you go slow. I loved the meadow and we saw elk in the evening eating. It is a beautiful place!

Beautiful valley and such a wonderful escape from all of the much more crowded recreational areas. Campground is clean and quiet with spacious campsites. A lot of poison ivy around the trees, but easily avoidable.

Very friendly camp host, easy self check in. The dishwashing sink at the bath house was an awesome feature to have. Dirt road getting in was no problem for a vehicle by itself, might be sketchy with a larger camper.
