the campground location and vibe make the somewhat difficult drive down well worth it. It's a smaller campground and close to beautiful historic area and meadow full of elk.

Loved it. But would recommend a bath house with hot water.

My friend Sue and I have visited Cataloochee CG three times, and we have never been disappointed! We love the smallness of the campground, and totally enjoy viewing the elk in the evening and going on hikes nearby…great location and great CG!

Very quiet, remote and well maintained! Park host was very visible and readily available for help. Bathrooms were very clean! Great place to relax, fish, hike and to check out the elk!! Definitely would camp there again.

Excellent campground! The bathrooms are very clean and the campsites are a good size. Be warned, you have to traverse a winding, sometimes rough road to access this campground. Large rigs NOT recommended! There are streams all around with plenty of fishing. One warning, the Little Cataloochee Trail is VERY difficult! It is very rocky and water runs down the trail making it slippery. If you drive around to the other end (old 276 I believe) it is a much nicer hike. Maps at the Cataloochee Valley are virtually non existent, so please do your home work ahead of time. NO cell or WiFi coverage in the Valley, you must drive a few miles and possibly get one bar.

Great campground! It was beautiful and we were able to see a bull elk with a cow elk right next to the campground. It was quiet and a great spot to enjoy the outdoors!

We went the end of October and found the campground was well maintained and quiet with decent size lots. We were able to hear the stream running alongside with no problem. The camp host was very nice and helpful giving us suggestions for hiking trails. The elk were beautiful, grazing in the evening when we went after 5 PM and again in the morning by 7:15. Able to get some great close up pictures. Road up to Cataloochee is very curvy and hard to see on-coming traffic at times so drive careful.

A nice tucked away location very far from civilization. The drive around through the winding roads to get here were well worth the time. Clean and tidy, would definitely recommend.

Wish there were volunteers or staff regulating the Elk. People get way to close, one even tried to feed the Elk. People parking all over the meadows edge, provoking the Elk. Very dissatisfied with the way the Elk are handled. Everything else was perfect!

I drove into the valley early in the morning to see a light mist over the meadow and a lone elk grazing with the sun coming over the mountain. It was amazing and like something out of National Geographic. The buildings are well kept and hold a lot of history of the people that once settled here. The trails are peaceful and there are some stream crossings without foot bridges but nothing that wasn't manageable because it had not rained in a bit. Chattahoochee is very underrated. There is beauty everywhere here.
