Wonderful small campground. The fireflies were amazing!!! Love how remote this campground is and love to go there.

Opening weekend.the camping was wonderful and very, very clean!! Maintenance at the campground is always done with PRIDE! Will go back and will continue to camp there with the family. The host is a great guy and very friendly.

This is a beautiful campground and we had an awesome campsite. And to get up there(location) was an experience of a lifetime, I'm so glad we booked it!

I absolutely love this place! I love the seclusion and the people in the campground were so friendly

I've now stayed at the Cataloochee Campground about 8 or 9 times, all in the Spring. It's a pleasant campground with adequate water and toilet facilities, plus quick access to some good fly fising. Due to the remoteness of the campground (which I prefer), I always bring some locally purchased firewood with me. The campground would really be more convenient if the camp host had firewood for sale to the campers.

I an disappointed that the Park Service has failed to maintain the access road. The dirt section badly needs grading and gravel. The campground at Cataloochee needs an additional bathroom at the lower end and a water spigot there also. I don't understand why electric hookups can't be provided, at least to half of the sites that could be designated for travel trailers and RV's. Sewer hookup would be nice too. In general, I am disappointed that the NPS has not built any campgrounds in the Smokies over the last 50 years, while the demand has quadrupled during that time. Cataloochee needs more campsites. Either add another campground or increase the campsites in the one there. I have been going to Cataloochee for over 50 years. It is one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. Just wish NPS would spend some money on it.

Campground host checked us in immediately. Site 12 was very spacious compared to others we saw. We pulled a 28 ft travel trailer there well after checkout time to avoid meeting other trailers leaving and left early on our checkout day for the same reason. No problems whatsoever. This was our 4th or 5th time camping there over the years.

Best visit here yet! It was a quiet week, just what the doctor ordered! Elk everywhere and the hiking is always good. I really enjoyed walking on the closed roads.

The Cataloochee Campground isn't scenic and the restroom is a walk for most campsites. When you're staying there, it's so you can visit the amenities of the valley, especially the meadow where the elk hang out during the rut.

need more support staff and less elk volunteers. Elk Volunteers are given to much authority and tend to make problems worse, for example traffic issues. They try to enforce camping and gov. regulations when they do not or should not have the authority to do so.
