Our first visit to Cataloochee. Well kept, small, quiet. Mostly tent campers. Had a great time.

I hate to tell the internet how much fun we had there b/c I don't want it to get too crowded. It is quiet, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the GSM. That it is a long ways from stores and restaurants surely helps. Looking forward to visiting again. Bring a book and your binoculars. Its that kind of quiet place.

Camp was very nice. Camp host very helpful and accommodating. Park was beautiful. Seeing the Elk was incredible. Facilities at campground were very clean and kept up. Rivers and creeks were clean and has beautiful rocks and little waterfalls. Make sure you get your firewood as soon as you get off the highway. It’s hard to find certified wood anywhere close. Fishing was great. Plenty to see and do. Road is very well maintained

Liked this campground a lot. Sites were well spaced but little vegetation in between. Clean. Friendly camp host. Nice to be in uncrowded part of the park. Gravel roads in and out were pretty fun.

Beautiful location. Sites were large but the tent pad was not large enough for my 6 person test with the vestibule entry. Sites were close together with no privacy, but all of the campers were very respectful of space and noise. 1 downside was that we were not to do dishes at our campsite due to bears and other wildlife, but the space provided did not have hot water available. We ended up heating water and washing our dishes and then carrying the full dish pans to the "dish closet" to rinse and dispose of our soapy water.
Also, 8-10 mikes of the road leading to the campground is narrow, rutted, and dangerous. We loved this location, but as we get older do not want to navigate getting back to this site.

A beautiful and quiet campground! Our first time in the Smokies. It's fun to be in a remote part of the park, and there are some great hikes around there (we especially enjoyed Boogerman - bring water shoes!). The stream passing right next to the campsite provided a wonderful lullaby through the days and nights. We had a few elk pass through the campsite one evening just to nose around, which was magical. Ginger, the site host, was an absolutely incredibly kind and knowledgeable host who offered us extra help when we needed a cell signal to address some car problems. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and our stay at Cataloochee.
