The campground hosts were very helpful and appeared to enjoy working there. The campground was clean and walking distance to the elk viewing area.

The long, winding road to the campground was well travelled and maintained. The campground sites are large and treed, with a beautiful creek nearby. The bathrooms were spacious and well lit. The dishwashing area was helpful. The historic church and buildings were charming. We saw so many elk! The fields and bridges over the creek were very picturesque. It was a great experience. Were so glad we stayed at Cataloochee campground.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Cataloochee campground. It is a hidden gem. Very pleasant camp host. She was very informative. Will definitely stay again in the future.

Very pleasant stay. Be prepared for all weather and no quick trips to town for forgotten items. Beautiful area and sites were very nice and spacious.

Nice little campground tucked away in the mountain. The area wasn't crowded at all and was calm and quiet. The drive up can be tricky but very doable. It is a long stretch of gravel road that we could do comfortably in our 2WD hatchback. Go early morning towards the valley if you want to see the elk and butterflies. Two gas stations at the base of the mountain have firewood and other essential supplies. Stock up as there is nothing on the mountain.

Wonderful, well kept secret of the park system. Beautiful trails, campgrounds, historical buildings, streams, creeks, rivers and waterfalls. Everything is well maintained and clean. Please be aware that the ride into the park is very intense. Not for the faint of heart. Love this park.

Great first time camping trip there! Did have a yellow jacket nest at our site that it looked like they purposely did not mow around to avoid but they did not bother us since we saw it first thing and we stayed away. But other then that it was a great trip!!

We pulled a 30 foot fifth wheel in over what we call the three mile road from Hell the campground was great but worried much of the time about getting back out. I would suggest the road be limited to no more then three axles, the elk were wonderful !

We love coming here for hiking, history, and getting away from it all with the family. Great trails are everywhere ranging in difficulty. Little Cataloochee Trail and Rough Fork have great sites to see along the way. If going for the elk, please follow the rules for viewing to not spoil the expfor others.
