I love this place. 9 years in a row going, sometimes twice a year. Always a clean campground. The hosts are always so nice! Beautiful area, family friendly, dog friendly (leash required!), abundant wildlife to watch and amazing hiking trails!

My grandparents were from there so we go there often. The maintenance crews do a good job keeping it maintained. It's good to see that some of the buildings are being repaired but there is much more that needs work.

Love the "back to nature" simplistic camping.

Ken the campground host was super friendly and helpful. It’s a beautiful campground in a remote part of the park. Soaring pines, a nice creek to listen to, and not too many folks given the difficulty getting up there. Do be prepared for a long winding sometimes one lane dirt road. Be sure to bring what you need as a store is a haul away.

I absolutely loved staying at Cataloochee Campground. The Camp Hist was fantastic and informative. I had the camp site right next to the bathroom, although the dryer and toilet were noisy it was still a win win for me a solo 60 year old camper chick to have the bathroom and dishwashing sink right by. The camp sites and bathrooms were kept clean daily. I enjoyed the elk roaming through the campground and viewing them in the valley. Despite rain I had a canopy and will bring a big tarp next time to hang up after all your in the Smokeys a mini rain forest. Visiting the valley brought a lot of peace and happiness but remember to get out of your car and check the buildings and trails out. I took one rainy morning to drive over to Big Creek on the gravel mountain road. It was absolutely beautiful. The road is tougher than the Cove Creek Road you drive in on from 276. I recommend everyone to stay at this campground and enjoy the elk, nature and history of Cataloochee Valley.

Camphosts were great! Although the road coming was challenging, the campground didn't disappoint. Loved our stay.

Camp ground was gorgeous. That side of the park is beautiful. Wish the road getting to it was paved the entire way.

No ranger ever seen. No host or hostess present for 2 days. A german sheppard off of leash attacked my small dog and chased us down. No daily weather postings. Picnickers we’re in my site when arrived at 1:45. A man told us they had the site till 3, and became hostile. No sense of any rules being followed there with absence of any ranger or host presence. Horrible road to drive on to get in and out of campground.

I love this campsite! There was an amazing drive up the mountains with gorgouse views. Campground was quite and small. The creek running through it was beautiful and my neighbors were remarkable. Just moved to the smokies and will be totally coming back! Also I seen an elk walking through the campground that was awesome man! 5 stars excellent.

Cataloochee valley is one of those magical places inside the Great Smokies National Park. It's an incredible experience, combining a school house, a church, multiple homesteads and Elk sightings. Be prepared for a step back in time.
