Campground was as expected. Clean bathrooms, well laid out flat sites and easy access to bear proof trash cans. We spent four nights and the neighbors were all very friendly and respectful of space and noise level. Would highly recommend if you are looking to stay away from the summer crowds.

Don't go to this campground. Difficult to get to, no showers, no electric, no camp store, no nearby town, no paved walking trails. This is why I keep going back. Love this place!

Be aware of the twisty, gravel road over the pass that you have to traverse to get to the campground, The biggest thing I worried about was meeting a large vehicle coming in the other direction! There were at least 3 large travel trailers (pulled by large trucks) in the campground when we were there... and all three were running their generators ALL DAY, which was very annoying and took away from the feeling of being in nature in a remote area. I was surprised at the length of paved road in front of the campground. If they could pave that, why not go all the way over the pass? Just a little puzzled! Still, a very nice campground, other than the lack of privacy.

We enjoyed our time here. The campsites are quite close together, but it was quiet anyway. We saw elk Bugling at each other, went on beautiful hikes, played in the water and even had a bull walk through the campsite. (October)

All around excellent camping experience. Beautiful and quiet with easy access to all areas of Cataloochee. Try to get a creekside spot if possible.

Cataloochee Campground is the best campground in the park in my opinion. It is quiet, small and located in a nice stand of trees. The elk are right up the road and there are many trails to enjoy.

Our family camps every year the 2nd weekend in August for the Palmer Reunion - it is a family tradition that our entire family loves. The nature, the history and the people are great.
