We love camping here- it's quiet and laid back. Will be back.

Appreciated that the restrooms were clean and that our Camp Host was very visible and available. Also appreciated that other campers observed the quiet hours. The hiking trails in the Cataloochee Area were varied in levels of challenge but all with interesting architectural relics and natural beauty. We enjoyed that we were able to bike in the area without too much road traffic.

We had a great time seeing elk and bears. The campground was good, bathroom clean. Only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the location of the sites. All the sites in the perimeter had decent spacing but the ones on the interior were right on top of each other. Luckily for us we were there mid week so there were few campers there. We were leaving Friday morning, on Thursday night folks started coming in and by the time we awoke to leave the interior looked like an occupy camp. They need to thin out some of the site.

This was the first time I used a NPS campsite and found the staff very knowledgeable of the area and extremely friendly. Sites and facilities were very clean and made me question why I have been using park service primitive sites for most of my life. I enjoyed that I was not digging up other peoples poop when I had to drop a deuce. The online reservation was a breeze and Check-In was very easy. Will definitely be using Cataloochee Valley in the future.

Good location. This is not tent only, there are RVs too. Density of campers is pretty high in a small area.

This is a superb, small campground. I used as base camp for day hiking all the Cataloochee Valley trails. Nice people, level sites, clean bathrooms and always close to the elk.

Great campground away from the crowds. Have your morning coffee while watching the elk graze in the meadows a short distance from the campground. It's a long drive on a steep, gravel road with many tight curves. Just go slow and enjoy it.

The campground is small but nice. The best part of the stay was seeing the Elk. But you have to travel a few miles to see them. Since we have a large RV and do not pull a vehicle, I was disappointed that they were not right at the campground. But some fellow campers, Robert and Loretta ,offered to let us ride with them. It was awesome seeing the herd of elk!!! I must warn fellow RVers, that this campground IS NOT a good place for large RVs. We have a 29 class C and would not have reserved a site there had I been warned about the road to the campground! It is 7.5 miles of an awful narrow, twisty, turning gravel and mud road. The road is about 12-15 ft wide in some places right on the side of a mountain!!!! And if another vehicle is coming the other way, it is VERY SCARY!! No guardrails so if you go over, you better hope a tree stops your RV. Once you are on the road to the campground, there is no where to turn around so you are stuck on the road for the 7.5 miles! One of the other campers couldnt believe we got our RV up there . He asked if we had a helicopter drop us in there! LOL!

Nice campground. We had a spot by the water and it was very nice. Very primitive sites but the facilities were very nice. We saw a bunch of elk down the road from the campground. The drive back to the campground was very fun!
