We love camping in Cataloochee! Our site was great! The campground was nice and quiet and the bathrooms were clean! Best part of it...no cell service!! Loved every quiet second of it all

Fantastic campground and site. Little creek behind and plenty of space from other campers. Good distance to the bathrooms and close to a spigot. Theres a road behind but not super close and there arent many cars.

We loved this campground and area. It was quiet and beautiful. At night the synchronized fireflies came out behind our campsite. Two evenings, elk walked thru the campground. Will definitely visit again.

Awesome campsite, hosts were fantastic. So much to explore in the valley, bring your bikes and explore old Cataloochee Trail Road

A true outdoor experience is what awaits the camper at Cataloochee. As if surrounded by GSMNPark isn't enough, there are trails within a few yards of the CG entrance, the sound of Cataloochee creek is ever present, lots of previously inhabited buildings to explore and of course the main attraction, the magnificent Elk just down the road. Can't beat the front row seats for viewing. Once camp is set there is no reason to wind back up the dirt road for anything. Be happy, respect and love the space.

Amazing as always! Seeing a bull elk strolling through camp was pretty neat too.

This is a beautiful and remote campsite, with sites right on the river and trails you can walk to. The host this summer did a great job keeping the campsites and bathroom clean too. No showers available. And warning - the road to get up the mountain is pretty scary -unpaved and narrow.

Cataloochee is a wonderful place - the valley is stunning, and the surrounding mountains and hiking trails are truly magical. The campground is beautifully maintained and the host was friendly and helpful. Our only complaint is the fact that the elk have become a nuisance and wander freely through the campground. This presents a danger to campers, but more importantly, to the elk. This herd, and these majestic animals, should be more carefully managed and returned to their natural state of wild. It's a sad thing to see.

Beautiful misty mountain eveningWe had just completed a 5 day backpacking trip an decided to stay one more night in a front country site. This is a truly exquisite campground, the Elk were in full rut with multiple bulls bugling thruout the valley, this is a magical sound that will raise the hair on even a harden outdoorsman. Great place

It was a beautiful and very relaxing atmosphere. I truly enjoyed seeing the elk during mating season. I had no problems of any kind here. Very quiet and serene.
