Campsite was exactly as described on rec.gov. Camp host was amazing and directed us where to see elk and historical sights. We have a large popup and the trek in was intimidating with the narrow roads and outgoing traffic, but it was not an issue.

Great campground for a spring or summer getaway. It's a 30 minute drive off the main road even though it's only 10 miles. Don't forget to get your parking pass for outside the campground. There's only a bathroom not a shower.

Terrific. Restrooms had soap and hot air dryer! Great campsite, but road to it was a bit tricky.

An overnight stay during the week was perfect here. Going to look at all the historical sights kept us busy. Don’t pass up the over look on the way into Cataloochee. It’s a little overgrown but beautiful.

Intimate campground tucked away deep in the eastern smokies. Lots of historical markers and buildings in this valley.

We loved staying at the Cataloochee campground! The bathrooms were convenient and clean. It was quiet and very peaceful. We are already planning to come back soon!

This is a great campground with the exception of the generator use. Makes no sense to have one. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean and the camp host is very friendly.

Happened to be there the week it rained. That always diminishes the camping experience. However, there are several things that could greatly improve camping at Cataloochee. First, improve the road- take out some of the curves and widen the dirt part. N.C. needs to do their part on the access road up to the Park entrance. When the campground is full, the restroom facility gets very busy. It would help to have another one at the other end of the campground. Providing electric hookups would be a great plus, even if it was for only designated campsites. Would be worth $5.00 more per night. It would be great if there was another campground in Cataloochee, or expand the present one to handle demand. The dirt road from the school house to the end of valley needs to be widened.
