We had a fantastic experience at this campground. Our campsite was large enough for two tents and hammocks. The waterfall was nearby, and we enjoyed our time there. Though we could not find any trailheads nearby, I ended up hiking up a forest road across the bridge from the campground. The road to the campground was also scenic. Overall, A+.One thing to note: Even-numbered campsites are closer to the creek, but they are tiny. We originally booked campsite 08, and it was tiny. Luckily, we saw the opposite site 03 vacant, and reserved that immediately at the drop box.

I think my expectations exceeded reality - but my actual stay was nice. .The campsite (#6) was so nice!!!! A very clean spot for my tent, the fire ring was very clean, the bathrooms were in good order with toilet paper. I didnt feel like the neighboring sites were too close. .I thought Id be right next to the river so I could filter water (no potable water at the campground) - but youre quite elevated from the river, and though Im in shape I didnt trust my scrambling and climbing skills. It is fairly remote - no cell service. Have your maps and directions downloaded or printed out. The hosts didnt have the site signage updated, meaning my name wasnt on the site I reserved, but I think if I would have shown up and someone was there I could have just stayed in a different site. Because of the remoteness - make sure you have everything youll need before you get there, including wood. I went for a quick walk around the campground (only two, maybe three sites were being used), found the host spot across the street, but was met with a sign saying no wood for sale. So that put a damper in my night enjoyment. (If I would have known I would have bought some on my way.) .Overall, I would come back, but Id be way more prepared and just bring everything.

The camp sight itself was nicer than most with the tent pad tucked down a hill. We had a poor experience with the camp host which reflects the experience score given.

This is such a cool campground. Went mid August and it got to 90 degrees Sunday. The campground itself is very small and the toilets are old and pretty smelly. The host only appeared early morning to clean and restock toilet paper so bring some with you, as TP is gone by mid day. Most of the campground is tents only and sites are very close together. No cell service. We have a pop-up camper and got spot #9. It was a pull through instead of backing in to park which I love. The site itself was tiny, it had a table and fire pit. It also had a path down to it's own spot on the river which was amazing. The walk from the campground to the swimming hole and falls is only a few minutes on a mostly paved path with picnic tables along the way and lots of shade. For how busy it gets I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the entire area was. We picked up a few pieces of trash as we came across them. By 11am the river was packed with day use people. To get down to the swimming hole at the bottom of the falls is VERY steep with nothing to hang on to, if you have to carry a dog or kid, beware. I would recommend you stay for two nights if you have the opportunity. There is a lot to do in the area as well hiking and other falls. It is about 20 minutes outside of the nearest town and you can get gas/supplies there.

This website had the camp site map numbered wrong when I booked. So I thought I was booking a double site right in the middle of camp sites next to bathroom, that I had stayed in before but when we got there it was not that site but a small single all the way at the end.Map has been fixed i believe, but had to try and squeeze 4 tents in to a small sight.

We had a great time at our site (#5) with a preteen and two toddlers. People were respectful of other's spaces, no one was too loud. Our site was about twenty feet of brush to the road, so during the day there is a lot of traffic going by, but it's not that noticeable. It is good to know if you have small children staying with you, though. We had enough room to camp with two tents (one sized for four people on the pad and one for two people) in the space near the picnic table, which isn't an established pad. Our neighbors let us use their jumper cables, which was very appreciated. I had read previous reviews on the state of the vault toilets, so when I got there I was expecting the worst. But they were actually very clean and in good repair. There werent many flies, which means that people were reading the piece of paper posted up that asked them to put the toilet seat down to avoid flies. The smell wasn't even as horrible as I was expecting. A+ on CLEAN, better than expected vault toilets! Also, I forgot my keys by the waterfall and a lovely family stopped and grabbed them for me, reuniting me with them on their way back. It was overall a lovely visit and we will come back again- we even met someone whose family has been going for years and he had nothing but good things to say.

beautiful spot, very short walk to the falls. sites 14 and 15 are very tucked away. Really only allows for 1 tent. will be back next year!

Quiet, sweet little campground on a beautiful river with great swimming holes. The campsites, all of which are pull-throughs, do not have direct access to the river, but a short walk takes you to multiple places to swim. The camp host was friendly enough but not very knowledgeable about surrounding areas/amenities/recreation opportunities, and he had no fire wood. No potable water, so make sure to bring your own. The river becomes VERY crowded with day use visitors when it is warm.

Pit toilets stunk real bad.

I was very impressed with the camping spot! It felt away from the other camping spots, and there was room for two tents and two vehicles to park. The only con was this spot is very close to the main road.

A quiet, small campground that does not disappoint. Camp host was always available for firewood and a friendly greeting. Best part is access to the day-use area for swimming and jumping off rocks at the waterfalls. Have camped here several times, campsites have always been in good condition.

The campground was poorly maintained compared to our previous visits. Much of the area which was normally mowed was unkept and un-mowed. The trash dumpster in the camp area was full and overflowing. Our reserved site was occupied by an obviously intoxicated woman who was attempting to occupy the site. The camp host offered no assistance in convincing the unauthorized intoxicated person to leave the site. The camp host was in complete absence during our stay. The camp hosts did not verify our status as handicap occupants. Hosts during previous years stays always verified our handicap status for authorization of reduced camp fees. Thlis is a great simple campground. It has nice swimming areas appropriate for both children and adults.

This is my third year camping at Sunset falls. I love it so much. We always have a good time. Try to book on weekdays when it isnt so busy if you like a more quiet peaceful time. Bathrooms sometimes very smelly, but this time wasnt so bad! Campsite is always clean. Would totally recommend.

We had a great time at sunset falls! The small falls were delightful. The park host was helpful. Theres a great mountain bike park at Yacolt Burn only 15 minutes away. If you are sensitive to sound, heads up there are lots of dirt bikes, ATVs and motorcycles in the area.

Lovely campground, quiet and private spaces. Toilets are stinky/buggy and there's no potable water plumbing, which is inconvenient but I'm a backpacker with a gravity bag so that's not important to me.

Beautiful location! The river is so nice to walk up and explore. The waterfalls are great and perfect to jump in from the top assuming youre okay with cold water.

We really enjoyed ourselves. We got quite lucky with our site too. I highly recommend site 11 if you want to feel secluded in nature. And I would recommend sites 12 & 13 for larger camp groups. Beautiful Views, Clean sites, great river access. Toilets were ok, quite old. Id recommend bringing your own disposable toilet seat covers. But otherwise it was a great getaway! Very thankful to the Host Family :)

Quiet campground, and this particular campsite is above the river. Can easily walk down to Sunset Falls. Vault toilets.

The site was nice enough, but it was quite a bit of a hike in, much more than indicated. The bathrooms were horrific and not kept up, however. Lots of flies in the area, too.

Yes, the bathrooms are old, but the sites were wonderful and very private

Our site was not labeled well and was a bit of a trek from the car to the site. Not a big deal but would hav been nice to be warned

We had a fantastic stay here. It was very quiet and the river provided perfect white noise at night. My husband and I enjoyed being off our devices especially since we had no reception. Will be going back soon!

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
