Our most favorite campground! Lots of hiking and fishing/cray fishing to be had. Usually very quiet (if you dont stay along the lake). Double sites are a great investment if you have kids or a dog. Bring a kayak or boat or hike to the opposite end of the lake to escape the day use crowds. They will pretty much consume the beach. At times it was difficult to access our boat due to packed sun canopies and beach blankets, and at one point people were using my kayak as personal storage. (Obviously Friday-Sunday are the worst days) Be prepared for biting and stinging bugs of all kinds. The biting flies, ground hornets and black jackets were especially bad this year.

The campground itself is fine. Standard campground and bathrooms scenario. I will however advise anyone who doesnt have high clearance or solid suspension to think twice about staying. The road there is a 1 hour gravel road there poorly maintained in areas and tons of wash boarding. The roads horrible and long. Its a great spot for hikers passing through on the PCTA but the drive just isnt worth it. Plus lots of bees if youre allergic.

We had a great time camping here. During the last week of the season. Sept 7-10. No mosquitoes, a few bees at times but not terrible. Very quiet
spot as it's an hour on a (well maintained) gravel road to reach it. The pit toilets were mostly clean, just smelly as they usually are. We brought clorox wipes. It was no problem. The lake is amazing. Clean and clear, one of the best for kayaking, we actually had it all to ourselves. Plus no motorized boats aloud so that's a plus. We also did a hike around the lake that was beautiful, definitely recommend. Remember to pack your own water in! And it's a dusty spot later in the season after no rain for a while so be ready for dirty lower legs and
feet all the time. But hey, that's campin'!
