Beautiful scenery and location, though its rather remote. Spot 23 was very nice, no complaints. Very impressed with how diligent and helpful the host was. This place was spotless, not a speck of trash anywhere.

Amazing time! Great temps, not cold at night, and no mosquitoes. All the sites appeared to have a nice smooth framed tent pad, very convenient. Definitely worth the drive! Try to catch the alpine glow in the eve on the mountain - out of this world.

We've been camping at Lake Takhlakh for over 20 years, and its always been one of our favorite places. The lake is crystal clear, the trails are beautiful and family-friendly, and the campground itself, while rustic, is clean and well-maintained. It's a truly special, peaceful place. However, the current camp host significantly impacted our experience this year. He was overly aggressive with enforcement, especially at night, disrupting respectful campers over minor issues. Simple, long-standing camping traditions like sitting around the fire and talking quietly after dark were abruptly shut down, not just for us but for nearby campers as well. Its heartbreaking to see such a beloved spot lose its welcoming atmosphere. The natural beauty is still therebut until the campground is under better, more balanced management, its hard to recommend.

The camp hosts who take care of the facilities here are great. Things are kept clean and in good order. I've never been here before but this has become one of my most favorite places to camp.

Thank you to the camp hosts, who were present, reasonable and friendly. I think the trail around the lake and the nearby Takh-Takh Meadows might need a machete taken through it just to cut back some of the overgrowth (not trees - mostly the bushes) that lean way over the path, but other than that - which may not even be a responsibility of the hosts or campground itself, the stay was exceptional and nostalgic. The mosquitos were non existent, and the fish were jumping constantly through the day.

A very special place to seek relaxation and connection.

The hosts were very friendly and the restrooms were some of the cleanest we have experienced.

Pros:- Lake is clean and clear and the view of Mt Adams was amazing!- Easy access to lake from the campsites- Sites are shady- It's not a busy/crazy area since the lake and campground are small- Bathrooms were clean- Hike around the lake is about 1 mile and was an easy trail for our young kidsCons:- No potable water - bring lots of extra for dishes, etc.- Most of the sites are small, on a hill and have only one tent pad- No cell service with AT&T

the relatively new campground hosts were very friendly and helpful, the restroom was clean and well supplied, and the nearby campers were all good neighbors

Beautiful lake with a great view of Mt Adams. Remote location with challenging roads to get there. Great camp host.

Absolutely gorgeous lake and very quiet. Long gravel road to get in and out of camp so be sure to bring everything you need!. We stayed in spot 37 with a 23 ft airstream and we left the trailer on the car. Fit perfectly and was fairly private. Wasnt lakeside so we had to walk our kayak and paddle board to the day use area to use. We just left them there for several days and it was fine. Others did as well. Next time will try to get a spot lakeside. Camp host was great. No WiFi and no cell service which was also great. Some bugs but not too bad. Will be back. Lovely place.

Beautiful campground. Appreciated the camp host taking the burn ban seriously. Bathrooms were cleaner than any time we have camped there in the last 12 years.

This is a popular/busy campground so if you are looking for total isolation then explore elsewhere. Also, if you are showing up on a weekend with no reservations then good luck...we had a couple parties vying for our camp site at 7am on a Friday morning. The campground offers ample lake access, a trail around the lake with great huckleberry picking, friendly camp hosts, beautiful view of mt adams, and clean pit toilets. Our biggest concern was getting eaten alive by mosquitos but we lucked out and experienced minimal encounters with them. Bring drinking water unless you are cool with lake water. Overall, enjoyable experience and would stay again.

There was no camp host the first night we were there. Bathrooms were overflowing with trash. People were having fires despite the burn ban. There was no noise ordinance upheld and people were partying into the wee hours of the morning. Considering the yearly fires this state endures I would expect at the very least there would be someone there to monitor that. Someone did arrive our final night (as camp host) and he seemed to be taking the job seriously and paying attention to fires, trash, etc. I understand that there have been recent cuts with funding but at the very least the minimum things need to be attended to and if not, this campground should be shut down. As sad as that would make me, I care about the environment more than a beautiful view and peace this campground allows.

So peaceful and beautiful! And it was very easy to find campsite

Beautiful location & a super clear lake. We had a couple sites side by side which worked out well for our group of 9. The vault toilets were not bad at all & fairly clean for our 4 day stay. Camping at this lake requires careful planning for ice and water since the nearest town is about 50 minutes away. The last stretch of road is laced with potholes; on a sunny day it's challenging to see them.

Road leading to camp was pretty rough. washboard dirt made it slow but any car could make it 4x4 not needed. Camp was gorgeous and lake was better with view of Mt. Adams. It was crowded even mid week Even worse bathrooms ran out of TP. Yes I will go again
@RobertS9225788 · Camped on Jul 11, 2025 at Campsite #17
Management of the campground was a little chaotic. The bathrooms were trashed. Bags of garbage were piled high. There was no firewood for sale. The campground host was nowhere to be found. And worst of all, many of the sites were double booked! People who had reserved their sites months ago showed up on Friday night only to find that their sites were occupied already! Inexcusable.

Remote little gem of a campground if you can time it to avoid the bugs; hosts were nice, bathrooms and trash were in good shape

Someone was in our campsite at 5 PM. Nobody around, camp host was not there until the next day. Lucky there were some open sites available.
@Elizabeth4D497 · Camped on Sep 5, 2023 at Campsite #40
Beautiful area! The on line map was not up to date- site #40 is shown to be lakeside- it is not. #41 is. Many of the campsites are very close together, which can make for awkward camping, trying to be a polite neighbor. I was there mid week in September- fewer bugs and less people- but the people started streaming in Thursday night and Friday, when I left. Chipmunks are persistent, one spent the night in my car! Luckily nothing was destroyed and it ate the food that had fallen between the seats! Lots of hiking and exploring options.

It was fun and a nice rural getaway butttt I paid $10 on top of $40 for booking to change the date of my reservation and someone was in my spot when I got there at first I thought someone took my spot but my name was not on the campsite but instead said the person was paid through the next day. I was able to find the last site that wasnt reserved yet and told the person there wahr happened but I would love a refund for at least my $10 change fee since I paid $50 to not have my spot when I couldve pulled up and paid $22 for the spot I found.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
