We love this campground even though everyone says it isn't one of the popular Corp of Engineer campgrounds on Lake Allatoona. The drawbacks are that is it VERY close to interstate 75 and depending on which sites you choose, you will hear a lot of traffic noise and the campground doesn't seem to get as much TLC as some of the other Corp. campgrounds. Smaller campground so a little less crowded. I do wish it opened earlier than mid May and would stay open at least through October. We miss some prime camping in September and October!

Where to begin. First of all, this rating has nothing to do with the noise of the campground. Our site was 200 yards off the northbound, Interstate 75 bridge, but we were well aware of the noise situation before we made our reservations. The first situation was when we came up to the entrance and checked in. It was a friendly check in, but there were no maps to be given out to assist us in finding our site. That led to the second situation. The signage in the campground is terrible. We were given directions at the gate, but they, thankfully, proved to be incorrect. We were told we would have to back down the road to enter our site. As it turns out, our site was on a circular drive and we had no problems. However, there are several sites that require backing up for 200+ yards to get to the site. That's if you are in a travel trailer or motorhome. Tent camping it's not a problem. For those with trailers or motorhomes, there probably isn't a level site. Ours was level east to west, but not north to south. Some trailers literally had their trailer tongues on the ground and the trailer still didn't look level. This was probably the dirtiest COE campground we've ever been in. Trash was everywhere, on the roads, in the woods, and in the lake. The one bath house was old, but on the first day, it was clean. Day two, due to someone deliberately clogging up the toilets, left the place in horrible condition. It was cleaned up early on day three, but then later in the day, someone again fouled the handicapped toilet, and it was not cleaned up by day four. Also, there are no soap dispensers in the bath house. On the bright side, across and up the road at Old Hwy #1, there is a nice swimming beach for the kids and a large ramp for putting in boats. If you are camping at #3, you do not have to pay the entrance fee. Etowah Mounds is nearby and is worth the admission price.

First of all, the staff were polite, and kind.
1. Campground was unkept (not mowed)
2. Trash at our site invited ants that came into our enclosed camper and vehicle.
3. Thought there was a grill for our site, there wasn’t.
4. Could not enjoy sitting out because noise of I-75 day/night!
5. Horrible campground, would not recommend to anyone.
