McKinney is one-of-a-kind. Very close to Marietta/Atlanta, but a world away at the same time. Always clean and quiet. Lovely views on the lake. Bigger sites because it is Corp-built. Always enjoy our visits there.

Mckinney campground is conveniently located a few miles off I75. All sites are nice with a picnic table & fire ring. The campground has several bath houses, two beach areas and a boat ramp. Very nice campground for a weekend getaway.

Beautiful spacious sites! Lake views amazing. Showet houses and bathrooms need attention.

Nice campground with great views and access to lake. They must be short-staffed, because shower house and toilets were not serviced in four nights we were there, including running out of TP (a first for an ACOE campground in our experience).Road noise from I-75 could be heard when trucks Jake-braked, but notably the campground was just across the lake from the train, which sounded it's horn dozens of times at all hours. (I liked it, but my wife didn't).Our campsite, #46 had a low, muddy spot that needs some gravel. The fire pit ring was placed too close to the wood, perimeter railing, as could be seen by black charring. The kayaking was great, particularly to the north. We'll look for a campground on a different part of the lake, the next time we stay here.

We had a beautiful lakefront campsite, and enjoyed the historical sites nearby. Allatoona Pass Battlefield was very interesting, as was Kennesaw Mountain. We enjoyed hiking in Red Top Mountain State Park.

Is always clean, though we don't use the bath houses. Plenty of walking trails and roads around the campground to walk the dogs. I would have given it 5 stars if the government would have fixed things other than the lift stations in the 1 1/2yrs that they had things closed down. They didn't even do anything about the extremely bad dumpstation area. There was all kinds of rumors about them fixing all kinds of things. But nothing. They didn't do anything really for all of us campers that come regularly. They need to do some updating and maintenance on other areas of the park. STILL, the place is a favorite of ours.

McKinney campground is located pretty close to us so we go once a month the majority of the year. Close enough to get there in a short time and far enough to forget about day to day life so you can relax. It's always clean and quiet. We dont use the bath houses so I dont know about that. I will say however, my on complaint is the dump station. They have two issues here. One: the blacktop/concrete area here is so out of level you cant actually empty the entire gray or black water tanks. Secondly: they installed a water line at each station that you can NOT hook to your black water flush or to the Y connection on the drain connection to help flush out the lines, which you need to be able to do. This was changed a couple years ago and has been a complaint of MANY campers. For the most part though, this has been a great place to go camping.
