The host were extremely helpful and nice. I would have enjoyed a hiking trail. I had site 38 and I didn't like how close site 39 was. I felt like we were sharing the campsite. Other than that, we did tent camping right on the lake and boy was it windy (25mph) and cold. I'm not blaming the campground; I blame the Coleman 10 sleeper all weather tent. Also, we didn't like that they don't have an electric gate and therefore, once the gate is locked you cannot leave. I think the gate is closed at 10:30pm and opens at 7 or 7:30am. I believe this campground is really nice mid Spring and Summer months and especially wonderful for couples without children.

Nice quiet campground with a beautiful view of the lake. Convenient to shopping, restaurants and the interstate. We have a popup so we hoped for more updated bathrooms but still a most pltstay.

The swim beach area is terrible all rocks no sand no place to play in water due to this

We had a great stay at McKinney. The sites are well situated and shaded, and we loved being steps from the lake. Our site 38 was easy to access for our 24' trailer and had a large pea gravel area off the level pavement pad, and new picnic table. There was a fire ring as well. We were across from a restroom facility that was kept clean, but we did not use the bath house. Our kids enjoyed the beach area and we loved that it was close to home. We will definitely be back!

We were at site 38 with a view of the lake, partial shade and excellent AT&T cell service. The restrooms were kept very clean, even in the smaller facility just across the road from our site. McKinney CG is very close to Red Top Mountain State Park and its numerous hiking trails. Allatoona Pass Battlefield is just across the lake, and has a less than one mile walk with plenty of historical placards to give one a sense of the Civil War drama which took place there. I recommend it.

I cant say enough about how great this campground is. The managers are great and truly helpful. The views of the lake are beautiful. Each site is well equipped and big with some privacy. The facilities are great, particularly for newbies. I did not use the dump station, but it looked very clean. And best of all, for walkers/runners, the paved road within the campground is almost exactly a mile, great for safe running. And deer hanging out. I imagine its even more stunning when the lake is full. Great experience.

LOVE McKinney for the incredible views on the lake, for the size of the sites, and the pea-gravel on the the ground!! The biggest problem is the bathroom situation. With all the plumbing/sewer work they completed over the past two years, we were extremely disappointed that more bathrooms had not been added, that showers additions to restrooms were not done, and that expansions were not considered. Selecting a site requires careful study of the campground legend or you could find yourselves walking uphill in the dark, through wooded shortcuts, for a solid 5-6 minutes for facilities.
