McKinney Campground - what a fabulous place. Great price, staff was friendly and the waterfront sites have amazing views of Allatoona Lake. After sunset the lightning bugs put on a nice show.

Excellent. Many sites with good water views and plenty of space with lots of trees between sites. Only downside is how spread out the bathhouses are if you plan to use those vs toilet in the camper. Hosts were nice and helpful. Dump stations (2 in a line) were clean, but there isn't a water connection to hook a hose to flush the black tank.

We had come to the area to pick up our new fifth wheel & chose McKinney to spend our first night in it. We’re so glad we did! First of all, it’s absolutely beautiful. As we arrived, the sun was setting, and the lake view from our campsite was breathtaking.
When we left, we forgot to take our surge protector from the service post. We didn’t realize it until we went to hook up that night at our next stop, hundreds of miles away. We were so mad at ourselves, believing we had lost a few hundred bucks on that mistake. But, we were then so relieved to receive a call the next morning from a VERY nice ranger at McKinney, telling us that she had our surge protector & would hold it for us until we return to the area next month!
Highly recommend this campground for not only the gorgeous scenery, but also for the helpful and kind staff!

The campground itself is great. I don't feel the camp host do much of anything other than sit at the gate.
There is a real safety issue with the front gate being locked at night! Why can't they use a combination locK, where each camper get's the combo? Most campgrounds change the combo on a month basis. Why was a keypad gate not installed in the 2 years the campground was closed? Being locked out at night is 1 thing but being locked IN is a real safety issue. I can't believe thinks this is ok!

This is a great campground. My only issue is the roads need to be cleared of natural debris. The build up makes the road to appear to be much narrower than it is. Also, the campsites should be upgraded to reflected the larger RV’s and Motorhome homes that are out there.
