The campground was clean and well cared for. The bathhouses did not have soap at the sinks. Our spot (145) was rated to hold a 46 ft unit. I don't think so. The campsites were close but not too close for comfort. Access to the lake was hilly and rocky but negotiable.
The only negative I have concerns the dump station. First it is slopped and I have seen where others have scrapped going through the station. Be careful when pulling through. The worst thing however was the flush or lack thereof. The water that was provided was through a non standard connection and there was no way to flush the black water tank. If you not going to have sewer connections, a flush station is a must! Please address this problem. The staff is aware of it and said others have complained. They spoke of vandalism of the previous flush facilities. It's a shame people can't respect property.
All in all was have a great time at a beautiful park.

Second time at McKinney. Stayed in site 143. I didn't like this site as much as the other site I stayed at during a previous visit. The views of the lake weren't as good, but still very pretty. It rained a lot during this stay and part of the site got a little flooded, but we still had usable space. The bathrooms in this loop don't have showers. Lots of hiking nearby (Red Top Mountain, Pine Mountain, etc). We accidentally left our trailer surge protector at the site and the rangers were so kind to call us so I could go pick it up.

Access to the site ( we are 42ft long) was easy enough. Park attendants were happy and helpful. Very quiet in our location ( site 104) even though here during Cherokee school vacation

Our campsite was pretty level. Close proximity to 144 and 145. There is additional parking across from site. We explored the Kennesaw and Picketts Mill battlefields. The park attendants were courteous and helpful. Bathrooms/showers were clean.

We have a 41' 5th wheel, & roads are too treacherous for this big of a rig. One big turn is slanted SO far downhill angle, it scares dickens out of us - we inch around it, & on way back up, we cross over it, back up to left, then proceed to exit.. Also, dropped tires off of narrow road at 2 turns, 2nd time, thought I was gonna lose camper! And I am a good driver- drove school bus for years before retiring - I couldn't imagine somebody driving there w/o experience.

Campsite 143Site was level and near the water. We enjoyed the (relatively) quiet and shady location. Some noise from boats on the lake, but not enough to be a problem. We could hear a train nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

We love McKinney Campground. Its clean with nice level pads and Great Lake views and access.
