We enjoyed 6 days in late September at McKinney COE campground about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta, GA. We spent our first night on site 144, a beautiful lakeside location, but a little close to the campsites nearby. We also experienced a small problem with ants at this site, which caused us to surround our coach with diatomaceous earth for the remaining nights. With the kind help of the campground host, we moved for the next 2 nights to site 45, another beautiful lakeside site, but with a bit more space between sites. Our initial plan to stay 3 nights was stretched to 6 to stay away from Hurricane Ian and we found a great flat site (#64) up the hill away from the water. While the lakefront sites were nice, we enjoyed this site the most. All 3 of our sites were paved, but site 64 was straight and long placing us further into the woods than either of the next door sites. It was private and deer wandered within 30 feet of our coach each day.This campground was well cared for and offered a diversity of sites, as well as a boat ramp for those inclined. There was a swimming area and rest rooms were clean, although soap for hand washing was not available. While there were no hiking trails, the campground was large enough for long walks through the camping areas. There was no camp store here, but several fast food restaurants within 5 miles or so and grocery stores within 10 miles. The campground is about 2 miles off I-75 with the exit for Glade Road the best for navigating to the campground.TV reception was a challenge, particularly from the waterfront sites, and Verizon cell coverage was spotty but available for our cellular wifi connection. All-in-all it was a great stay and we recommend it to others.

Planes, trains and automobiles....nice campground, but the close proximity to northern Atlanta is a constant reminder. When this campground was created it must have been really nice, but the city has now surrounded it. It's a nice stop over or a place to camp if you need to go into northern Atlanta.

The wildlife on the inside of the loop was amazing.... we have always stayed on the lake but couldn't on this trip... and we really loved it!

Bathrooms were filthy the entire weekend. Host were very nice. Did not see the ranger which would have been good due to heavy smell of marijuana from the sites near us.
