Stayed at site 144. Hard to get into and car parked at overflow made it harder to maneuver to back into site. Excellent view of the lake and easy access to walk down to edge of lake.

The campground knew it was going to be a cold weekend yet didn't double check the breakers at the campsites. Our breaker broke (not flipped, the switch would not turn on) and we had no heat during one of the coldest nights of the year. Luckily our neighbors let us use their breaker box. We stayed one night and when we requested a refund for the other night we didn't receive one and didn't get an explanation as to why not. It was disheartening because we waited a long time for the campsite we reserved and for the breaker to be broken when we paid extra for it was a real let down.

Great experience. Neighbors were quiet. Camp hosts were pleasant. Would be nice to have clean showers near the 139-150 sites. Ants were a problem.

Very pretty campground with nice spacing. Great location. Don't miss a drive to Gibbs Gardens (about an hour away) - well worth the visit. We will definitely come again to McKinney.

Our trip was atypical. We only had an overnight stay, reserved the last available spot and arrived after dark. Our site was too challenging to attempt in the dark (backing down a shared, narrow driveway and then a hard left into our site, all downhill and ending in the lake. We didn't feel safe attempting it in the dark (probably not even in the daylight) so we parked in the bathroom/shower parking lot, stayed overnight, and left early morning. There was a bit of traffic at that bathroom through the night, and I questioned if they were campers. Three young men met up in two cars and hung outside their cars for about 40 minutes, around 10:30 pm. Several cars came and went through the night. On the way out, the ranger was super nice and understanding that we chose the parking lot over our site. We've stayed at Victoria before and like it better, but unfortunately it is closed over the winter. Interesting, because McKinney is very hilly and Victoria is fairly flat. I'd definitely prefer Victoria with winter conditions.

Beautiful clean, spacious, shaded waterfront site. Camped in a 22 ft Thor. Army Corps of Engineers has magnificent properties. Had a great time.

We had a fabulous time. The site (144) was right on the water,The bathrooms were spotless and the fellow campers were very friendly.Could not have been better.

We were very disappointed that check in time is 4:00pm. It would make better sense for check out time to be 11am or 12pm with a check in of 1:00pm. That gives the next paying customer time to set up and enjoy the site for the day they are paying for. With a 4pm check in, you are setting up late in the evening during the time you should be setting up for dinner. If a camper is late checking out, then its even later. Bad idea. Love the campground!
