Moomaw Lake is a great lake.

We love camping at Lake Moomaw, but the noise level of neighbors and heavy boat traffic took away from our experience this time. We went after the weekend but still had really noisy neighbors that let their kids walk through our site and others' sites. There is no privacy. It just depends how lucky you are with getting good neighbors. The boat traffic can be incessant and provide an all day hum of motors. In the mornings the water is so clear and beautiful, but by the end of the day the boats have churned it all up.We like when the water is lower because when it is high (like it was when we camped this time), there is nowhere to hangout next to the water. When it is lower, you can set up chairs and an umbrella and hang out by the water. You can check water levels online. The path to get to the water is narrow and flanked by poison ivy. Before we had neighbors, I moseyed around their waterfront sites and found this to be the case there, too.The campground does seem somewhat neglected. The reservation cards on our site were weeks old and the fire pits often have trash in them. Seems like no one checks the sites between checkout and check-in. The trail to greenwood point has a lot of downed trees.The bathrooms were very well maintained, and our water spigot (just across the driveway from the site) worked fine. The store at the marina was open and had ice, firewood (pricey though), emergency supplies, and a cute selection of snacks, drinks, and ice cream.
