We had a great time! If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is a great time of year to go. We have been going to Holland Lake for the past 40 years. Most of the time the campgrounds around the lake are full so we camp at Owl Packer. We have always wondered about the FS cabin. If you are looking for a place during the winter months to just relax, read a book, put together a 500 pc. jigsaw puzzle, this is the place to go. The cabin was very clean and tidy. I read some of the comments about the fan on the stove not working, we were warm and toasty without it. Five star stay for us. P.S. Hope the current chaos in DC doesn't impact this fine jewel!

We stayed four nights at this wonderful little cabin. The cabin is well stocked with most of the supplies that you need. It was clean when we arrived and we made sure to leave it even cleaner when we checked out. Beds are comfortable. The small refrigerator/freezer was more than adequate and the stove and oven worked great. The location is quiet and a short walk from Holland Lake. The views of the lake and mountains along the hike to the waterfalls were amazing!

Owl Creek Cabin is one of our favorite places. This trip included my sister, my grandson and his buddy. Those two boys had such fun splashing, chasing, play fighting and generally tormenting each other. With the scorching hot forecast, it was the perfect time to be at the lake. We enjoyed lots of water time as well as campfires and marshmallow roasting. We were quite entertained standing on the porch in the morning watching the pack trains file past the cabin on the way into the Bob. Thank you to the Forest Service for maintaining this beautiful cabin. The only drawback was that the oven cooks waaaaay too hot. We also found the cabin was like a sauna inside. We discovered the pilot light still lit in the gas heating stove. We turned off the propane and all was good. Also, bear spray is important but so is bug spray!

Great place to stay year round. Has everything you will need and then some! Pots, pans, plates, cups, a slew of utensils, microwave, electric stove/oven, mini fridge that works amazing!! 2 electric heaters, 1 fan, propane stove (fan is broken so it makes a lot of noise) books, games, an awesome collection of literature for hiking, biking, camping in the area. Water spigot outside, fire ring with some fresh rounds cut from the diseased tree's cut around the cabin - if you venture out a few yards (bring a maul or splitting ax - none provided).New mattresses, but a little hard for me. I took a cot pad and it was perfect - you may be fine and it is better than last year when they were completely flat. Walking distance to Holland Lake and the falls if you want to get some exercise.Had a supply of paper towels, toilet paper, clorox wipes......everything you could possibly need. It was like staying at the Hilton Resort! Minus the people :)Cozy place! I could totally live there!

The cabin was was clean and comfy. We brought water for cooking and washing dishes, but I wish it had a sink. The heat didn't work too well.

Arrived at the cabin in a snow storm only to find no snow shovel to clear a path upon entering the cabin proceeded to fire up the propane heater.the directions said to adjust the thermostat to control heat, and not to touch switch on back of heater, after an hour of waiting for heater to fire up decided to use small electric heaters provided' it was a good thing the temperature outside wasn't any colder the heaters kept the cabin warmish.I don't understand why they removed the wood burning stove that had been there for years 'these so called rustic forest service cabins are becoming more like VRBO rentals.

Had a great stay before the 4th of July. Even with the campers nearby the horse corrals it was nice and quiet. Beds were comfortable and lots of amenities in the cabin, so less to pack. Kitchen was very stocked and I accidentally left my steel mixing bowl behind..... Would definitely stay here again, beautiful area!

Wonderful place the cabin is more than I had expected, and it was clean and neat, we enjoyed the night there, we were invited to a campfire and card playing with another camper we meet when we arrived, it was great fun,

What an amazing little getaway. The cabin is very cozy and only minutes from the lake. Hiking trails are right out the front door. The cabin was well stocked with an assortment of kitchen cookware and utensils amd the propane woodstove/fireplace is awesome. We want to come back in winter for some CC skiing.

Cutest little service cabin you ever did stay in! And the cleanest! This cabin was updated a few years ago and you can feel/see the love they put into it. It's super comfy beds and fridge and heat make it feel like you're at a very nice airbnb. The proximity to beautiful Holland Lake is great. We were there during shoulder season (April), so we didn't have anyone around and wondered what it must be like when the corrals are occupied. We'll be back to find out! Thank you to everyone that takes such great care of this cabin.

Nice accommodations and quiet experience. No kids, no neighbors, only the occasional bird and herd of deer to greet us. Just the type of getaway my wife and I were looking for. I highly recommend visiting on the off season, for a period of solitude.

the Owl Creek cabin has THE best amenities of any cabin I've rented! Modern, yet quaint. It's location is perfect for accessing many trails in the area. It was very clean. Thank You previous renters!!! and thank you to the Forest Service and Backcountry Horsemen for ongoing maintenance and improvements!

Cabin was clean, well stocked, and had way more amenities than I'm used to in a forest service cabin. I would come back in any season as the area is beautiful and has recreation activities available all year long.
Nearby access to a small creek, trailhead, and Holland lake are especially great.

Such a fantastic location and others before us have kept this place clean, thank you! Had all the things needed to make our stay easy. Highly recommend!

This is the best place to relax while enjoying the hiking trails in the area. The fireplace was so perfect, without the work of starting the fire. Very clean and had simple amenities that we didn't expect such as paper towels, dish soap, coffee, and a clean bathroom (outhouse) with toilet paper and hand sanitizer provided. We hiked to Holland Falls. The cabin provided trail maps of the nearby trails and info so we could decide the level we could tackle. While there was no cell service for us in the cabin (t-mobile), when we walked around the corral and near the lake, we were able to get a couple of bars. Really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.

The cabin is in excellent shape - well sealed with no mice or rats. A very comfortable table, cozy couch, and large front porch offer lots of options to relax. Remember to bring your own water, or a water filtration method (a creek is next to the cabin). Nice and quiet in the spring, but this area is known to get busy in the summertime. Given the proximity to the horse corrals, flies could be an issue during the summer months.
