We were very disappointed, there was trash at the entrance there were very loud campers and there was no sign of the hosts to help out.

Just an all around good trip to an area that was much cooler than St. George!!!

We had a wonderful time at the Mackinaw campground in the Fish Lake recreation area. We were in the southernmost sites #s 1 through 14, we camped in site #7. It was about halfway between the restrooms, which were very clean, and the showers, which were an unexpected benefit. The showers cost .50 per minute, so have change ready. We very much enjoyed our time, and would highly recommend this spot. If you need cell phone coverage you need to go north to the Bowery campground and they have a cell phone expander service for free.

I really like this campground and area. The campground sites are well-spaced, although some a bit tight for getting into and out of and not necessarily perfectly level. The point is they are quiet, nicely sized, and well spaced. The coin operated showers are spacious and clean, and a really nice bonus.

Hiking is very nice. The Lakeshore Trail is easy to follow. More strenuous hikes are Pelican Canyon, Doctor Creek, and Crater Lake(dried up lake but nice hike nonetheless). You can pick up a trail map at the Fish Lake Lodge just a 1/4 mile away from the campground. The best part about the hiking-other than the Lakeshore Trail I hiked 25+ miles and never saw another person. If you have the fitness and time, the Fish Lake High Top is a beautiful and unique destination. Either Pelican Canyon or Doctor Creek will get you there or you can combine them all into a loop like I did.
