Loved our walk-in site. Brought a fold-up wagon to move our stuff from the car which made it painless. Absolutely quiet at night other than an occasional dog bark. Despite the neighboring walk-in sites being completely reserved, no one used them while we were there. Fantastic hiking and birding nearby. Flies (including biting flies) and mosquitoes were around but not terrible. Permethrin-treated clothing and a bit of DEET took care of them.

My third year in a row at this campground at the end of July. We always have a really lovely time. It was extra dusty this year! The bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen (not that past years were terrible or anything, just typical for vault toilets at a campground.)

For the reviewer that said there were children screaming... yes, this is a family friendly campground full of joy and laughter and exploration for people of all ages. It made me smile. It's a campground, there are other people there.

My one complaint is about figuring out the overflow/extra vehicle parking. The very kind camp host asked us to move our extra vehicle to overflow. However, in order to do so properly, we had to find the host again later to get a special overnight hanging tag to show that it was an extra vehicle. This process (where to pay, how to get the tag because the receipt at the pay site said it was only good through midnight instead of our entire stay) was not noted anywhere on the signage at the entrance or explained anywhere on this website that I could find. It would have been helpful to have clearer directions in advance or even able to find it at camp without having to track down the camp hosts. I understand that the fee is new this year, so perhaps next year will be better.

Overall, I recommend getting there early if you're arriving on a weekend. Lots of people enjoying this beautiful lake, the trails, and this campground. Enjoy!

Wrights Lake is in a great spot–right next to the large Wrights Lake and in close proximity to other smaller lakes accessible by hiking. We hiked into Desolation Wilderness for a day hike, which was only a mile or two away from the campground. The walk-to campsites are a bit more secluded.
