Wrights Lake is a beautiful location and starting point for several day and backcountry hikes. We reserved the walk-in sites (#52 and #53), but ended up spending all our time at #52. It's a big comfortable site for multiple tents whereas #53 is quite small. There's a trail from the site to the lake which was an easy hike for adults, children, and old dogs. The lake was a comfortable temperature but mucky at the bottom. I give this only a fair rating because: (1) the mosquitoes are plentiful and voracious; (2) campers play music or drums until late in the evening (Why? Id like to listen to the wind in the trees, the birds, and the sounds of nature. I almost went to the camp host and complainedbut I hate complaining.); and (3) the facility itself seems run down and not well maintained (e.g., no toilet paper late in the day on a Wednesday and the amphitheater is a human hazard). It would be nice if they remodeled the amphitheater and had evening events to engage kids and adults about our environment. Its pretty but Im not sure if well be back.
