There is no better place to unwind than camping and Silver Lake East campgrounds. The camp hosts, Jack and Daryl, are very pleasant and attentive. The grounds are neat and clean. There are tons of hiking trails all around. Fishing on the lake is good and the alpine glow on Thunder Mountain is spectacular. There's also Kirkwood Mountain Resort just up the road and another large lake just beyond that. South Lake Tahoe isn't far away but, for me, there's nothing the beats the peacefulness of camping by Silver Lake.

Camp host left his generator on all day, even when away from his RV. Camp host also left tethered dogs unattended in his site. The dogs got tangled in their tether and barked for over 15 min asking for help from their owners. Friends of the camp host stayed in a site next to the host, and had 3 of the loudest, unfriendliest dogs I’ve ever come across camping throughout the U.S.. There seemed to be no accountability for the host’s behavior, and his and his friends temperament made us all uncomfortable asking them to be considerate neighbors. We feared an altercation should we ask them to control their dogs and be less noisy.

I go here every year, and love it each time. Lots of lakes close by, and lots of things to checkout
