Silver Lake is gorgeous, the campsite hosts are dedicated, and the campsites are pleasant. However, the lack of any water is awkward and degrades the cleanliness of the bathroom/outhouses.

Had to cancel the day before due to Sierra fires and air unhealthy for some in my family. Unfortunately reservation.gov provided no way to cancel so the campsite went unused, and I'm sure others with healthier lungs would have appreciated it.

This is a nice campsite on a beautiful lake in the Sierra. Bathrooms were nice and clean and the campground was clean and spacious with large sites for most. There were sites that were nicer than others however and there was a lot of variation of the driveway size and slopes for those with trailers/RVs. I wish more info was on the booking site regarding this. Our site, 53, for example was not very well graded and a bit shorter than neighboring sites, but we made it work with our 20' trailer. Next time we'll opt for another site. But, it would have been fine for a couple of cars and plenty of tents. Access to the lake appears to be much closer for sites near the end near ours, although I believe there is another trail to the lake from the other campground loop. There is a little store at the resort which is a quick walk from the campground should you forget anything.

The lake is beautiful, with plenty of access points and lots of hiking trails nearby. We saw 2 eagles within the first 10 minutes of arrival and felt so blessed to be in the fresh mountain air all weekend.

Camp host gave away my reservation to a walk in because her weekly printout was hard for her to read. She gave us another site but was unsure if we would need to move because she did not yet have the printout for the upcoming week. We had to check with her daily.
The sites were good overall. Only complaint is the tables were old and buried low like a child height table and awkward for adults.
The pit toilets need upgrading with a ventilation system like others I have seen.
Overall, Silver Lake is a great location and worth a few inconveniences.
