First our reservations were cancelled or moved to Caples Lake [we were told the upper loop was undergoing renovations]; fortunately camp host helped us move reservation to a FF site. Second, arrived to find there was no water; very hard to have to boil all our water from the creek; third the trail from campground to lake still strewn with many fallen logs one had to climb over or around. Kudos to the camp host and a FS employee that finally came with a chain saw and within a few hours had the trail cleared [almost]; for some reason they left a few logs across the trail at the top near lake [really wondered why its taken years for this to get cleared]. The cleared trail makes it so convenient for campers and bikers that use this trail to get to the lake. Silver Lake is still gorgeous; the lake is great to cool off on hot days. Over the July 4th week, the beaches were packed. So sad to see all the dead trees on route from Jackson to Silver Lake and all the burned trees from Silver Lake to Kirkwood. Even though there were cans for recyclables, we noticed an employee dumped all the recyclables into the garbage bin which filled up rather quickly. We are looking forward to the campground renovations and hope 2025 will be a better camping experience for all.

Enjoyed our stay very much, very peaceful, friendly camp hosts, and great restaurant next door.

Really nice mountain view and plenty of shade. Only down fall is no flushing toilet for the ladies.

We reserved a space in February. The reason we reserved that spot was for numerous reasons one of which was to be near the group we went with. When we arrived @ 130 (check in was at 2pm) we found the site occupied (tents, chairs, an Easy Up, etc...) and no one around. We contacted the campground host who said "we didn't think anyone was going to show up and they're (the site occupiers) were out fishing". OKAY SO CHECK IN IS AT 2pm AND WE ARRIVE EARLY. CHECK OUT IS AT 11AM. We were told the people that had reserved the site before us didn't show up so these folks took it. Instead of clearing out, and it's my impression that the campground host was aware of it, the "squatters" (for a lack of better terms) just left the area. Instead of doing the right thing and vacating a site they knew had a reservation, they were allowed to stay. We had to find another, less desirable site, away from our group. Why make reservations if no one is going to enforce or insure that reserved site is available? This is poor management at best.

Well-maintained campsite with recent improvements and generally spacious sites. Close, walking access to swimming beaches on Silver Lake.

Beautiful area to go hiking around Silver Lake, campground was beautiful and well-maintained. Campsites were a little closer together than I would have liked but it is still a great place to camp. Be prepared for lots of loud kids and barking dogs.

We went swimming and a fun walk down the Silver Fork American River. I really enjoy going there with my family.
