Extremely disappointed in this camping experience. We drove 2 hours with our travel trailer only to find our camp site was being occupied by someone else. Granted we arrived 8 minutes before check-in, we waited. Time passed and they still hadnt come back. We went to the host site and she was no where to be found and no way of contacting her. We went back and forth from our reserved site to the host to try and figure things out. My friend arrived so we had her drive down to FCFS sites to see if any were available and to check at the other host site 40. All of the sites were occupied and site 40 was vacant. Almost an our had passed and the group of people finally came. I asked them if they were planning on moving their car and stuff. They said no and looked at me like what the heck I was asking for. I ever so nicely told them that this was my reserved camp site. They tried to say they checked and no one reserved it. Thankfully I had a screenshot of the reservation. Lack of host and rude people. Not coming back.

This is a beautiful, forested campground by a rushing river. The spaces are all beautiful and mostly ample in size. We especially appreciated the handicap, friendly path that runs along the river. If this place wasn’t so far from home, we would visit it often.

We generally really enjoy camping at PiPi. This year was an especially bad year for meat bees and the yellow jackets weren't any fun either. We also timed our trip to coincide with the pumping of the outhouses so that was a lovely experience as well. The camp hosts were very nice and friendly and told us they were going to look into how to control the bees. The water in the creek was clear and refreshing. Just made our trip in before the campground was shut down because of the Caldor fire.

Been going 10 plus years. Very uncomfortable with personal fire safety this time. Fire pits are all full of ash. There were 30 foot high piles of cleared forest branches and trunks that have been unremoved and drying for 3 years in the middle of the campsites inviting arson or accident. Understaffing leads to garbage overflow in dumpsters. Royal Elk management is not adequate. Previous hosts used to do a wonderful job of keeping sites pristine. We left early due to these concerns.

Well this was my 2nd time at this campground. It's very beautiful. only that the grounds keeper kept accusing my family and I of doing things that we did not do? it ruined the Vibe of our trip since we took this vacation to relax. This person was not only accusing us of things we did not do he was very angry which bothered us because it was myself, my wife, kids and my parents trying to have a good time and this person would come twice a day and ask us random questions about our campsite. example we had a shower set up and a bucket to hold the water. He kept telling us i hope your not using that as a restroom we looked at each other like huh? his breath had a strong smell of alcohol. As if he forgot he already told us not to do our first day there. Never crossed our minds kind of gross but to each his own. but def something we did not do? anyways he asked us about our camp fire as well if we we making a lot of smoke because his wife has a hard time breathing. Again no idea where that came from we just had a standard campfire nothing different than we do every time we go camping yes there's some smoke but we don't like to be Smokey ourselves either so we try to limit it. anyways great place but mood killer learking around the bend

Love this campground. The host are great. The camp sites have plenty of room, and shade. The restrooms are close, and the nights are quiet. Everything you could possibly want in a campground.
