There is a trail that goes from each campground to the lake. Its a beautiful walk. We saw deer and turkey and went fishing and had a wonderful weekend.

The camp hosts are VERY unfriendly and more like camp police. People dont come from miles around to be interrogated by hosts. Friendly hosts can make suggestions but not treat travelers like they know all the rules and need to be reprimanded for not knowing how the camp rules work. Coming up to me and asking who are you? Is not how someone should be approached as a first timer. Anyway, a friendly welcome on PUBLIC lands would be more appropriate.

Very nice campground! Quiet little fishing spot for rest and relaxation. Camp host Jenna was great. Very helpful and attentive, keeping things in ship shape.Found the "free-range" cattle roaming the campground a surprise. Mooing echoing off the mountainside at 2:30 am.

The Dean Gardner campground loop online map didnt match the layout of the campsites on that loop when we arrived. We booked this trip about 2 weeks prior to the camping weekend. The spot we got was nicer than the one we actually reserved. We originally reserved a spot on the inside of the south end of the loop, but ended up with a spot a little more spread out on the outside of the south end of the loop across from the spot we reserved. It doesnt look like the map has been fixed, we reserved D10 and the online map shows what we got as being D11. This was our second trip to Pine Valley and our first time on the Dean Gardner loop. Its a very nice campground and well definitely stay at Pine Valley again.

Wonderful place to camp the scenery is beautiful and the weather is gorgeous in the hot southwest summers its also a nice place to ride and I ride dual sport motorcycles I haul my bikes in a enclosed trailer to my destinations and then I use the trails in the surrounding areas that are designated to ride on.Although as I would re-enter the campground area is the person working at the Quansett hut at questioned how I got my motorcycle into the park I told them I hold it in my trailer and that I ride on the designated trolls in the surrounding areas in the mountains well I was told that they had told me not to bring my bike in there before.? which they hadnt. And that I couldnt ride it inside the park or campgrounds which I told them I was not I was just writing it out to the Outward trails that are designated to ride on.Then I also encountered another one of the park workers taking photographs of my motorcycle at my campground telling me that its not allowed to be in there and that they were going to show it to the Ranger.? I said well be my guest Because its a registered licensed and insured vehicle just like anything else that anybody else would ride and I was obeying all park rules and all laws of the surrounding areas they continued to hassle me about my motorcycle being there?I Finallytalk to the person who was Was a retired police officer who was the campground host at the time and he said and his wife as well that they couldnt see that I was breaking any laws and that there was no problem that I could have the motorcycle in there so I continued to ride in and out and never once was confronted by a US national Park service Ranger so I dont know why the people at the Quansett hut in the volunteer workers inside were giving me such a bad time about having a motorcycle inside Pine Valley recreational campground areas
