Crackfoot is always a great place to stay. Bathrooms are always clean. Camp hosts are great

In September my wife and I stayed at Dixie National Forest in Pine Valley for 3 nights. We stayed at the Crackfoot campground where we have stayed several times prior. There are several campgrounds in the area. There is a beautiful paved footpath that we hiked on. We stayed in a fifth wheel. There isn't any hookups as it is all dry camping. The nearest dump station is about 4 miles away off the road that goes to the park.
Just outside the park is the small town of Pine Valley. There is one restaurant that is open only on weekends and no other stores.
We will go back to this beautiful campground.

The crackpot campground in pinevalley Utah campground is suppose to have about half of the sites first come first serve, you can not reserve them on the gov. site.
However when you actually arrive at the campground expecting to find an open site they will have reserved signs on them. Most of them are apparently saved, or reserved for out of state campers, Nevada and california.
I spoke to one of the caretakers he said he was"just doing what he was told".

We arrived at the cabin on June 2nd and were looking forward to running water, shower, and indoor toilet. Water was not turned on yet despite the mild temperatures.
However, we roughed it for the 2 day stay.
We found the cabin in fairly dirty condition so we spent several hours cleaning the floors and kitchen.
The refrigerator was nice to have but it has a fan bearing going out and it is very loud - sounds a lot like a cement mixer.
The cabin is secluded and has a nice view. The BBQ area is nice (where we did most of our cooking).
If you need more than 2 beds you might bring air mattresses since the top bunkbed is pretty high (probably Ok for older child or agile adult, not so good for senior. The futon is the 2nd bed.
It could have been a 5 star experience with water, a quiet fridge, and a clean floor & kitchen.

Pine Valley is a hidden gem approximately an hour north of St. George. The forested campground is absolutely beautiful.
