The sites along the river are not suitable for tents. They get full sun for 12 hours per day. It was brutally hot. When I looked at the pictures of the site I thought because of the trees there would be shade, but there is thick brush under the trees (good for birding - there were some interesting birds here). Access to the river is unofficial and very muddy. These sites are clearly intended for RVs. Like most camping areas no one really put any thought into tent sites. The sites in the middle of the campground do have some shade during the day, but the only access to the river from those sites is constantly clogged with professional rafting companies, so there is limited opportunities for casual recreation. If you like camping this is not a place for you. If you need a base camp with access to cool and interesting places, you will probably like this place. As long as you plan to be up and out by 9 am at the latest to avoid the heat.

Our group site, D, was splity into three parts, each with a separate driveway and separated from the others by foliage. In each area, there was room for a handful of tents. This setup is less than ideal for a group, since we had to select one area for communal gathering and spread our tents over all the sites. Either each area should be a separate site for a small group - maybe 4 - 6 tents - or the foliage should be trimmed so that it functions as more of a single, large site. The area was clean, but the tables in each area were so heavy as to be immovable. Again, this is inconvenient: the tables should be able to be moved modest distances within each area. Consider putting them on a 10 foot chain or something. The rest rooms were clean and adequate. In the men's room, we particularly appreciated having more stalls than urinals. This is the right proportion; most facilities have it backwards with more urinals than stalls. There were use trails allowing river access, which was nice.

These Group Sites are not group sites but 3 campsites labeled as "Group D". The bummer is that usually in group sites there is a shade structure for hanging out away from the rain or sun. We were really hoping for an opportunity to have a great night after being on our Gates of Ladore river trip...but alas we were spread out! On a side note the bathrooms are really clean and the sites are really clean!

Great views of the incredible rocks formations all around the campsite and the kids loved the Quarry!

Stayed in the beginning of July, and it was hot, as to be expected. But it was nice to be able to dip our toes in the river and find some secluded areas to take a dip. Our site next to the river lacked shade. Bathroom was kinda gross.

Overall it was a very nice campground, except it was Very hard for early June. One of the other campers in the site near us complained about us running our generator at 4:30 in the afternoon. We never did run it after 6 PM.
The group sites weren’t in the location as the map showed. Site D was 3 in a row with sites B and C across from us.

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
