Always one of our favorites for over 20 years, even without water (fish hatchery and Camp Sherman store are not that far away). Lovely to see the fall colors along the river! Chilly weather at night, mildly warm during the day for our 6-mile round-trip walk to Lower Bridge, then up to the fish hatchery and back to Allen Springs. Very nice the the fire-ban was modified to allow campfires in areas that have the fire rings.

Allen Springs is a beautiful campground and we had a lovely time. The campground host was very nice and allowed us to switch sites because there was no shade in ours (site 08). However, the second night that we were there, the camp host disappeared in the early afternoon and didnt come back. The women next to us got drunk, made a huge fire and were at high volume until 11pm. I tried asking them to be quiet and it just made things worse. I wish he would have stayed. We love this campground. A bald eagle landed across the river from us, and deer walked through our site. There are also very friendly chipmunks!

Overall this is a beautiful and well maintained campground. Being right along the lovely Metolius listening to the water at night makes this a great pick. The stars were also super bright. Be aware that the river trail does go through the campsites along the river. This does make it convenient to hike along the beautiful trail. Recommend heading down a bit to the nearby fish hatchery. Campsite 8 is very close with no separation to campsite 7, which was great for us and our friendly neighbors, but some campsites have a bit more privacy. The vault toilets were clean.

Quiet, beautiful little campground. Suitable for tent campers, vans or small trailers/RVs. There is NO water here, so come prepared. It was hot when we visited and the two vault toilets were getting a little stinky. Also, some of the sites could benefit from new picnic tables. Ours was so warped, my dinner plate started to slide off the first night! No on-site camp host this year, but the host from a nearby campground made frequent visits to check in on things, clean the toilets, etc., so no complaints. Beautiful spot on the Metolius River. We love it here!
