While the campground was nice and so was the campsite I reserved, I arrived to find my campsite was posted as available. Luckily no one was in it so I did get my site. Can you imagine the problems that might have occurred had someone been in the campsite that I had reserved.

Kudos to a nice camp host at Sunset Cove - so much different than our last few experiences this year. On that note we are frequent campers. This year we have experienced "rude" and almost belligerent camp hosts at both Hay Stack Reservoir and Smiling River. Why they cannot come into camp and introduce their self and explain rules is beyond me. I am more than willing to comply to their request if done politely. Instead they sit in the cart and shout and are quite rude in their manner. I understand they interact with all kinds of people in their job - it can't be easy. But not ALL campers are not all rude. It leaves me with a bad attitude.
Please address the rudeness of camp hosts and etiquette of introducing themselves and starting on the right foot. I love USFS camping and hate to see it turn to what we have experienced this summer.

We stayed here for a weekend getaway and enjoyed our stay. The campground was fairly quiet even though our spot was by the road. The lake is very choppy so I would forewarn anyone looking to stay at a calmer lake. My husband took his aluminum boat out and nearly capsized. The bathrooms are at a decent distance from most sites and were clean and did not smell. I will say the spots are quite small. This is definitely a tent camping campground. My parents met us and had their large truck and trailer and barely made a walk in site work. The site we used for our tent was still fairly small for a campsite but we made due. The sites are quite a bit farther from each other too, so if you are camping with a big group try for a bigger spot. This was nice for us because it meant we still had space and were secluded, but it would make it difficult for larger camp groups. It made for a quiet weekend for us since other campers were so far away. The camphosts at the time were VERY nice and friendly. I cannot remember their names but they were very accommodating. I would recommend this campground to tent campers who do not need a lot of space and who like fishing. We caught quite a few fish and they have a very tidy fish cleaning station by the dock. There is also a dumpster for trash and water spouts. It was a great time overall and we wish we could have stayed longer than just the weekend.
