Early to mid June is when the wickiup reservoir starts emptying,so keep that in mind when booking. Other wise great access to the beach area behind campsites and lots of space in each site on the lakeside especially

Something to know before you go is: There is a dirt road between this campground's lakeside sites and channel. That road is technically available for "primitive camping" making it noisy and dusty at all hours of the night. We stayed in sites 22 and 23. On the other side of our sites is a space that could easily be used as a parking lot for day trippers, but this weekend was used by 4 trailers as a campsite. They ran their generators all night and played their music until 2:00 am. Because they were parked on the outside the campground, the noise rules of the campground don't apply. There were also constant dirt bikes, ATV's, and side-by-sides flying down that road...one even graced us with their LOUD exhaust at 3:00 am. Because the road is without rules and it is literally right up against the campground, we won't be back.

Campsite was spacious and clean. Had obviously been cleared of downed pine cones, needles and branches-all the flammables. The location between the Deschutes River and South Twin Lake was awesome. The river attracted scores of varied waterfowl options including gorgeous snowy white pelicans w golden beaks, geese, gulls and who knows what else. My experience suffered because of extreme heat and we left early.
