We stayed for 3 nights late in the season (end of September), consequently it was less crowded but had no resident camp host, the host from South Twin Lake CG trying to manage both. Despite this, there was no real bad behavior and the single outhouse was cleaned daily. It is a beautiful lake and campground although dry (no water system,) and no cell signal. IMO it's much nicer than South Twin which has a large campground and a cool funky classic resort with a store, restaurant and boat rentals, although these might also affect water quality in South Twin which didn't seem as good for swimming. There is a beautiful trail 1.25 mile trail around the rim above the lake with a connection to South Twin Lake and other nearby trails, appears open to mountain bikes. However, the sign by the boat launch for the "Dwarf Mistletoe Trail" is a bit of a puzzle. If you follow where people have walked behind the sign, it is appropriately a very short trail. I think it must refer to the rim trail around the lake for which you have to hike up some wide steep doubletrack to access. There were a pair of bald eagles fishing the lake in addition to numerous trout fishers taking advantage of recent stocking of the lake.

The restroom was horrible. The smell was so bad it would have scared aways the demons from the darkest recesses of hell. It was so bad that I could feel the slime on my skin and taste the stench even after we drove 100 miles away. If we could can that smell, it would be a powerful chemical weapon. Just thinking about that smell brings bloody tears to my eyes. And now I want to go throw up. I have been to third world countries after entire villages were massacred and it was nothing compared to those bathrooms. Please for the love of God, clean those restrooms.

This is a wonderful campground. there is only 1 thing about it that may be important to know. The road in and the roads around the campground has huge holes in it. It was very difficult to get our truck and camper in without it dragging and tugging on our support stabilizers. It really needs attention. We have camped here for almost 20 years and it is the worst it has ever been this time :(
Other than that it was wonderful.
