Great place, kind of a dead end to turn a trailer around. Gate by the corral would be no problem it was a couple hundred yards around the bend.. Made it work, glad it wasn't muddy. Thanks!

Cabin was snug and clean and cozy. Lots of wood for the stove. Been here multiple times. Always nice and relaxing.

We were unable to make it to the cabin for our reservation. Something came up last minute. We have been there a few times before and love it.

Wapiti is one of my favorite winter cabins. As with all FS cabins, be prepared with your own supplies including TP. Plenty of snow this year to use for water (bring a filter). Remember to clean out the wood stove. We arrived and it was full plus had hot coals. :( Table with 4 chairs. 4 cots. Oversized pans to use for melting snow. The cabin is definitely showing wear. Wishing people would take care of gems like this.
We visited on a new moon and the stars were incredible. Be sure to go outside and check it out at night!!

Cabin was excellent. Awesome location and amenities. Only issue was that the Gallatin Valley Snowmobile Association was supposed to start grooming on Dec 2nd and had not yet. We had to break trail down to the cabin with two snowmobiles and one with a sled trailer. Going in was not too bad as we found some semi-visible old tracks. It snowed that evening and the next morning was tough. We were breaking trail uphill in a few feet of snow and got stuck about 8 times. It was miserable and with no cell signal we started to get concerned if we'd make it out. It took an hour to get to the cabin and almost 4 hours to get out. So the moral of the story is, unless you are running a hot rod sled, or following a lot of other snowmobiles in, I'd make sure they are grooming this one. Otherwise, it's a fantastic spot and cabin!

One our favorites. Road up was muddy in a couple spots but we made it with a Dodge Caravan at the end of May. So happy they cleaned out all the cupboards and drawers and got rid of all the old stuff! Glad they replaced 3 of the narrow Army cots but the new, longer, wider Cabela's cots were saggy. We didn't sleep well because of the cots. No screen door though the buzzy bugs weren't bad in late May. USFS personnel showed up one of the days to lock the wood shed for the summer but we had our own. They also attended to the outhouse. Cleanest I have seen the Wapiti Cabin out house ever!

The cabin was very clean and in great condition with large Cabela cots and a wood stove that kept the place very toasty. The location is nestled in at the end of the road but with scenic views. The surrounding area provided plenty of hiking and off-road travel with well marked trails. Highly recommended!

Quite a bit of drive by traffic but otherwise very peaceful and enjoyable in a beautiful setting. I was fortunate enough to rent it while it was $30/night. At $65/night I doubt I’ll rent the cabin again.

Such a beautiful spot ! We had a girls overnight after hiking to Albino Lake. Few flowers starting to bloom. Saw a few deer and a few different ducks. Noticed bear tracks on the trail but no others signs. No cell service which was perfect !!

Good cabin, unfortunately the price is jumping from $25 to $50. One of the cots was falling apart just as a heads up. Lots of fun! Hard hike with the snow in the winter however. No cell service either. Enjoy!

Great cabin, road there on snowmobiles cooked some lunch and warmed up while lunch was cooking. Thank you to the forest service for the hard work that they do to keep this cabin available for all of us to enjoy.
The cabin was awesome. The notice on the door about the fee increases was terrible. We try and stay in forest service cabins 6-8 nights/yr with our 2 boys. It’s always a great. Don’t double the price and price the 5th generation MT’s out. Please

Always a great adventure at this cabin. We skied in (2 mi) and saw no one on the trail. Two moose hung nearby in the morning. Cabin was clean, and stocked with wood, matches, pots, pans and some dishes, 3 regular cots + 1 oversized one.

Below zero temps were no match for the ripping stove at this lovely guard station. Miraculously, the spring never iced over all weekend. We saw lots of evidence of moose (and other wildlife) and heard critters visit the front porch after nightfall. It was an easy skin on our skis to the cabin and we arrived with it sparkling clean and well stocked, thanks to the FS folks who were there before us. Can't wait to return!
Place is awesome. Stayed overnight 6/20/20; 2 families w/ young kids. Everybody loved it. Nice being able to drive up. Room to pitch tent right next to cabin. Super clean inside and out. Plenty of firewood for stove. Plenty of cookware. Beautiful setting. Only wildlife we saw we squirrels and birds, but read about many bear, elk and moose sightings in log book. Forest Service employee checked in w/ us before we packed up, and was very friendly and shared much knowledge on the area. Can’t wait to go back!
We weren't provided with any information about how to access the cabin in Winter, but luckily heard from friends that it was possible to snowmobile from the main trail. Due to snow conditions and an old map that showed grooming all of the way to the cabin, we found ourselves unable to make it the last 2.5 miles there. In the future it would be nice to be provided with more information on how to access these cabins in the Winter. We had to look hard to find the information we did have and most of it turned out to be wrong.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
