We skied in from the highway but maybe could have driven a mile or so in. The only thing we really needed was more snow. Loved the wood stove and simplicity of this space.

I was unable to stay at Beaver Creek Cabin as planned because a culvert under the access road was damaged from recent heavy rains. The road was blocked with a sign prohibiting all access by wheeled vehicles, and I needed to be able to park my truck and unhitch my trailer right next to the cabin as is normally allowed. With no ability to park or even turn around close to the cabin, I had to abandon my plans and camp at nearby Beaver Creek Campground instead (which was very nice). The Forest Service kindly approved and processed my request for a full refund from Recreation.gov. I'm disappointed that I was not able to stay at the charming but very spartan Beaver Creek Cabin as planned, but I do appreciate the understanding and helpfulness of the staff at the Hebgen Lake District Office of the Custer Gallatin NF regarding my situation,

We had a beautiful cross country ski to the cabin 3/24/2023. Be aware of ice dams & keep your belongings away from the windows -wet due to snow melting as we got the cabin warm & cozy. 10/10 will be back.

My wife and I have visited the Beaver Creek Cabin eight times now and it's our favorite of all the backcountry cabins. The wood stove is HUGE and great for simmering food while staying warm inside. Distance from the parking lot in the winter is almost exactly 4.0 miles with 500' uphill on the way there and 100' uphill on the way back. We usually bring snowshoes but have done the trek on cross country skis as well. There are plenty of trails in the area for snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing or backcountry skiing. I would recommend bringing fitted twin-size sheets with you to put over the spring mattresses.

Just a couple miles of the madison the cabin is very nice with a nice fireplace outside

I had a wonderful time at Beaver Creek. The cabin was in great condition and had all the basics that you need for a few days in the wilderness. We saw tons of wildlife including a mother moose and her two calves as I was exiting the outhouse! Many trails to explore around the cabin too.

Great cabin and great weather. The wood supply was very low which could be a safety issue in another week. There was also a large slide of logs, dirt, and some snow that spread across the access road only about 200 yards north of the highway that occurred while we were in the cabin. So be cautious on that first 1/2 mile or so which has a steep slope to the east.

We came to Beaver Cr cabin for 2 night end of dec, 2021. Luckily, the ski trail in was nicely established by former cabin renters. Pulling all sorts of creature comforts in our sled, it took us 1.5 hrs to ski in the 3.5 miles. A gradual up, sometimes flat, grade. It was -8 degrees the 1st morning. We did stay warm, but had to stoke the fire every 3-4 hours at night. The 2nd night i took a cot from the loft and put it close to the fire, so i could get decent sleep. The cabin just had 1 cooking pot and 1 broken coffee kettle and some plastic utensils. Not that we expected the forest service to provide us with a fully stocked cabin, but one reviewer said it was well stocked with necessities and it definitely wasn't. The door has a LOT of draft, and we went thru wood like crazy. There was great skiing beyond the cabin, up a trail called Red Cub Trailhead. This cabin, though in a beautiful setting, is a little beat up in the interior. It's not terrible, just not as lovingly cared for as other cabins we've rented. Having said all this, we had lots of fun, the snow was beautiful, and we'd recommend it to others.

The top of the stove can handle one pot or pan easily, but there is only a stock pot and a coffee pot, so bring any other pans and utensils you need.
This time of year, it’s a ski in, and it took us about 3 hours breaking trail in a foot of powder and pulling a heavy sled. But the road from the highway is gentle and not terribly steep. Of course it’s a much shorter snowmobile ride if that’s your thing.
Highly recommend if you want an out of the way spot.

Tree was down and blocked the road, I couldn’t get to the cabin. When I asked for a refund I was told that it was my responsibility to have had a chainsaw. I was then told the money I paid goes to the employees who maintain the cabin. As if I was supposed to care about the employees who didn’t service the cabin. I was told he would put in a special request for a refund but I didn’t believe him. Thank god you don’t run a private business, just keep wasting taxpayer money.

The cabin was very easy to get to. We went at an awkward time of year where there was still snow cover but not enough to ski, though we boot packed the road with no problem. A few mice friends in the cabin kept us company, but the cabin was supplied with everything we needed for a lovely stay.

It was so peaceful and quiet there, and was the perfect place to relax. Be warned though, the stove only lasts about 4 hours and you have to wake up and put more wood in it. Other than that, our time was great. No phone service, no electricity, no water and best of all, no people around to contend with. At night it was quiet and darker than the inside of a cat, so for that 4 hours while it was warm, we slept like babies.

Cabin was in great shape. Love the new stove. Wood supply low. I'm wondering if snowmobilers come in and use the firepit and deplete the wood supply. Good idea to lock up the woodshed.
