The campground itself was acceptable, but stay away from sites #1 and #2. The campground is laid out along a stream/ small river, and is low and close to the river at the ends of the campground, but high and away from the water in the middle. Site #1 is the highest site and further from the water with no easy access to the river. It is also right near the main entrance to the campground and close to the main campground road, so a fair amount of traffic. Also, no shade at either site #1 or #2. The other sites all have willows, mature trees or evening shade from terrain.
The bathrooms were all clean, well maintained and smelled good despite being typical campground vault toilets. Obviously some effort spent in keeping them clean.
We did have an issue with one of the hosts. On a walk we found one of the more desirable sites open/unoccupied with no reservation tag on the site post. We asked the host, and he said it was reserved. Shortly after we noticed that a piece of notebook paper with "reserved" written on it had been added to the post. Nobody showed up that night, or all the next day. This kind of left a bad taste in our mouth, as we felt the host was kind of playing loose/fast with the reservation system. But, to his credit we did not confront him or ask about this further so perhaps there was a legitimate reason he didn't use an actual reservation tag and the site went unoccupied.
Horseflies! We didn't see any mosquitoes, but there were horseflies everywhere. Bring bug spray.
We were there the last week in July and it was 92 degrees. Plan accordingly.
