If you get a camp spot on the water, do it. It is wonderful to wake up in the morning and have your coffee in a little chair overlooking the Gallatin River. Watch the rafting trips go by, and spot tons of wildlife. We saw lots of bald eagles and even a moose. Pit toilets are cleaned regularly, but aging slightly. If you’re in a motorhome, this would not be any concern. There is less than a handful of places to stay on Gallatin River, this is one of them.
Con:
You’re a very close to a busy road, the only gateway between Bozeman and Big Sky, so lots of cars, trucks, and Semis. If you’re in a tent, bring earplugs
