The Camp Host does and amazing job. The site is thoroughly cleaned multiple times a day. He was helpful the one time my neighbor site needed assistance. Connie, who has been involved for decades is a treasure. Be sure to meet her.
The location is excellent. My primary purpose was to fly fish. The river was still quite turbid. The nighly rains didn't help. However, I did catch Rainbows right outside my campsite (13). I had to walk up and down (upriver delivering better results). The current was still fairly strong from runoff (and rains).
If you are tenting, as I was, the low spot is between the fire ring and rock ring. Due to the size of my tent, I had to set up here. Because of the weather four evenings, I was out trenching water flow away from my tent. Keep this in mind. Maybe the campsite could build up the grade in this area by three (3) inches and the problem would be solved.
The beauty of this site is stunning. Along 191 there are numerous turnouts to access the Gallatin. I spent more time toward Big Sky and down into Yellowstone. The water was clear for the most part there, but still moving very fast, so being alone, I was weary about trying to access areas on the other side of the river. Had I not been solo, for sure would have pushed access on the other side, especially closer to Greek Creek.
Other than the raw beauty, and powerful nature experience, my two favorite experiences were the temporary, traveling neighbors I met, including Gary (camp host - damn, I hope I got that right, and his mom, Connie), and being able to drive less than an hour and access many fishing sites.
Such a fun adventure.
