Sheridan Campground, MT - Latest Reviews, Photos & Campground Map
Sheridan Campground is located in the Beartooth Ranger District, Custer Gallatin National Forest (1 hr 18 min southwest of Billings, MT) with an elevation of 6,374 feet. There are a total of 9 campsites including 2 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from mid May to the end of September. 7 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 24 and 33 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Fees range from $18.00 to $36.00. Activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.
Due to the East Side Fire, burning near Rattin and Sheridan Campgrounds, the US Forest Service has issued a closure order for these two facilities through June 15th, as a precaution for public safety. The fire at this point has not damaged either campground. RRM of A and the US Forest Service will be evaluating the situation on or about May 1. If fire behavior allows the facilities to be opened prior to the start of reservations on May 15th, this banner will be updated immediately, and the campgrounds will open. If fire behavior continues and public safety cannot be guaranteed, RRM of A will begin reservation cancellation and refunds in the next 10 days. RRM of A and its partner, the US Forest Service, will be increasing the fees at this facility for Single Family sites in 2027. This increase has been approved to offset costs and to ensure we bring you the same great level of service you have become accustomed to enjoying. Thank you for your understanding. Nice campground, clean and lovely. The road through this campground is very narrow, and A little tricky to back into. But doable. But the app that you make reservations through has been troublesome to me several times. I wanted to add a day to this reservation, and was not able to. Even though it was available. I tried extending my reservation, and I tried just making a new reservation for that night, I could not get either one to work. Very annoying.

Nice spot. Close to creek. Camped at #8 which had plenty of space for a 10 man tent. Will do #6 next time, since it has more trees. Prior comments indicated "bad road", but looks like it had been grated since.

There was bear activity in the area so the Area Manager (Bruce) placed me at a nearby campground proactively and had everything set. The Cascade Campground he placed me in was great and the site was really nice. The Campground Hosts were also great and made sure I was set at the new location. The measure of a team isn't when things go right, it's when the unexpected happens and they met the challenge easily. Thanks!

Beautiful campground, quiet with little noise from highway.
Beware that East Side Road is in really bad shape. It's never been an amazing road, but since the flood I don't think it has been easy to get maintenance done. Many DEEP and unavoidable potholes. When we arrived at the campground, the back camper struts were twisted and one bump caused us to bottom out and sliced the trailer towing electrical cords. Wouldn't recommend taking a camper back here unless it's rated for off road.

Quiet and pleasant. I was concerned that I’d hear the highway but it was rare that highway noise cut through the creek in May. I had the whole campground to myself for one day, but even when others arrived there was a sense of privacy.

The road in is in rough condition. No road signs to help you know where to turn off the main road, and it looks like you are driving onto private property.
The campsite didn't have a tent location, and the area to put a tent has a bunch of Thistle growing in it.
The camp host is located at a nearby camp ground, and is very kind and helpful.

location is good , near Bear tooth hwy. spot was a bit tight ,but its a quiet and peaceful location. We had prepaid but couldn't find our tag, so we parked in another open spot.

We usually love Sheridan campground. But with the mess from trees down all over campground, it's difficult to turn around and we have a smaller trailer. Also no place to take trash, if your there for more than 1 night your trailer/car starts to stink of food, diapers, etc. With the added protection of no campfires, it makes camping not so fun. I also wish people would follow the rules, the couple next to us were smoking in their campsite. Last year we saw the camp host everyday and he was SO friendly, can't say the same for this years host. May have to find another place to take our grandchillins!

Seems the Montana campers next to us just couldn’t leave other people’s stuff alone. There was also a lot of pipe crud in the drinking water. We will not stay there again.

Decent campground with minimal amenities. Clean and well-stocked Pit toilets and water pump. Good flat sites, and bear-proof boxes at each site. No good way to clean the dishes, no trash containers.
