Wonderful ranch house. Screen door needs fixing badly. Campground is closed so be prepared to park outside the gates and walk-in to the trail heads. Pond teaming with birds and fish.

I enjoyed my stay- great location and amazing setting. Excellent privacy as the gate is lockable and the property is fenced. Superb views. The only minor ding is the water running from the tap and shower is hyper chlorinated to the point where I chose not to shower during the two nights I stayed. But as the signs say coming into the stronghold: no drinking water available. I would stay again for one or two nights for sure.

We had a great time hanging with family. Looking for wildlife? There were a lot of birds and deer. It was a bit chilly during our visit. So hanging out in the community areas was a bit cold even with a fire going. Bedrooms were comfortable. Most of us only got occasional pings on our phones- but a Verizon hotspot had occasional service... but not much. We will definitely return.

Lovely home for a group. 6 was just perfect. Two bedrooms with baths and 2 futons in living room. Plenty of cookware and dishes. The woodstove in the livingroom helped keep us warm and comfortable (fireplace in dining room is not maintained). The pond out front was great for birdwatching and the Bench trail was nice for sunrise and sunsets.

More cleaning supplies and maybe clean out the shop vacuum once in a while because no one else did. The suction was so bad I did a mediocre job cleaning it out.

Lovely peaceful cabin very close to wonderful trails. Lots of dirt roads for biking too. My only complaints are the fully equipped kitchen has only 1 drinking glass and there is no heat in the kitchen or dining room, I had to turn the oven on to warm up the kitchen one cold morning.

Halfmoon Ranch was a delight. It rained 2 of the 3 days we stayed, but it was enjoyable watching the storms through the picture window in the kitchen. It was a bit chilly. The baseboard heaters are okay for the bedrooms, but the living room, dining room and kitchen were very cool. I would recommend some space heaters for the winter months. The ranch is very large and with only 2 people, it was an awful lot to clean for the next tenants. The 2 dogs loved roaming the large fenced yard and exploring the lot with us. The windmill needs oiling, it can be very loud and creepy at night. It just adds to the atmosphere! I think it would be an excellent place for a retreat with friends or family.

Wow what an amazing place. I stepped out of the car and was amazed at the cabin and the view behind it of the Dragoon Mountains, so much better than the pictures on the website. The cabin was not a cabin at all but a house that was as big as my house. The rooms were all big, spacious, and comfortable. It was just my husband and I and our two dogs. The dogs had a blast because the yards were so big, great for playing ball and frisbee. We basically went to relax but did hike around the property and up to the bench on the hill for the awesome vistas. The kitchen was well equipped except a toaster would have been a nice addition. The place is very private, the only drawback was the traffic on the dirt road that goes back to some cabins and a campground. The road isnt too close and the people driving by cant see you in the yard but the road sure kicks up a lot of dust which youll notice when you sweep up before leaving. We got a laugh out of the squeaky windmill, I think its haunted because every time we walked away from the cabin it would start squeaking for us to come home, like something out of a Stephen King book. We will definitely come back!

Great cabin! A little dusty, but awesome location and distribution. Close to great hiking. Lovely pond with what appears to be invasive species. Well stocked. Bring swifter wipes, if you'd like. Just a few plastic glasses available. Plenty of dishes etc

Half Moon Ranch is a lovely spot with good access to the Stronghold. Been here a few times and always enjoy the birds and wildlife. It would be nice if the native grass was restored in the areas east of the ranch house where the new sidewalks went in.And, bring your dishwashing soap! And maybe leave a new container there for the next guests.JPK

Half Moon Ranch provides a unique opportunity to stay in a historic building close to one of the southwest's most scenic canyons. The ranch is a bit rustic, as it should be, but still very comfortable. Definitely worth a stay but please don't tell anyone else about this special place.

There was white pet hair on the furniture and all over the floors. No one had moped or sweep and there isn’t a vacuum to clean up the pet hair on the futons. I’m allergic to cats and dogs! Other than that it was a beautiful area.

The cabin was very warm and cozy. The pond has a variety of birds. The trail to the bench is very overgrown and we couldn't find it. Also if you want the bathrooms cleans there needs to be a toilet brush and cleaner.
Easy to get to. Close to the trailhead for the Stronghold.
