Incredible historic property situated in an awesome setting. Expect that amenities will be older with normal wear and tear but overall everything functioned well and past guests honored their basic cleaning responsibilities along with general upkeep provided through USFS. Well below the cabin along Oak Creek expect an active stream of day visitors walking from nearby State Park but did not detract from overall beauty of the experience and at sunset all went quite and was very tranquil and private. Very easy to drop in and enjoy your own hike along Oak Creek into historic State Park based around Crescent Moon Ranch or turning upstream one will find some very pretty settings. The ridge line above was very popular and being in the cabin made for a short drive up to a pull off inside the gate making that ridge line walk to really convenient.

The cabin was great, views amazing. The forest service and their volunteers that maintain it are exceptional.

This cabin is phenomenal!! There is tons of space, the beds are comfortable and there is cutlery and bowls/plates/mugs in the kitchen. You can easily see the Milky Way from the benches in the backyard. I went with 6 friends and we were amazed by the cabin and had more than enough space. The only thing is there is not much service at the cabin, which is understandable and we didnt stay long enough in the area to explore trail access by the cabin but there are trailheads at the top of road by the gate! We had a great time and Im waiting to get lucky to book this cabin again!

A unique experience being in the middle of red rocks and next to a creek, a tranquil, nostalgic environment, with plenty of room to accommodate large groups. Incredible views during the day and perfect conditions to watch the night sky.

We had a great visit to this "cabin". We are very thankful that the Red Rock Forest Service office makes this place available. It is a real gem in Arizona. WHoever was there before we landed did an awesome job of cleaning. Great spot. We visited the indian ruins further south and took a tour.

This site surpassed my expectations. While the building shows its age, everything is well-maintained. There are numerous hiking trails to explore. Templeton Trail, which can be accessed by crossing the creek and leads to Cathedral Rock. The area is serene and peaceful, and the kitchen is well-stocked with utensils.

The cabin itself is fantastic - really big (three bathrooms and three bedrooms; two beds big enough for two people, and three beds big enough for one person) and comfortable. The cabin's walls are so thick that the Bluetooth signal from my headphones was lost walking from one side to the other - which helps keep it very quiet, and would be great for privacy if hosting a big group. The view is also obviously unmatched. Unfortunately the cabin sits up the hill from an extremely popular site, so there's no real sense of seclusion during the day because you can definitely hear (and sometimes see) people hiking or at the creek. I guess this is unavoidable everywhere in Sedona but it is kind of a bummer. Also, and this is not really a complaint because I figure it's just inevitable, but there are definitely mice. If you're really afraid of mice, I would not stay here.

It's a great base camp with so much hiking and exploring nearby that you don't need a vehicle to get to so many trails.Such amazing views and a relaxing location. It is an old, rustic cabin in the middle of the wilderness, so expect bugs (mostly ants) and lots of mice. Always keep your food secured in containers to not attract anymore unwanted critters.

Excellent house. Plenty of room for large family. A/C kept it cool during hot June days. The only drawback is the daytime crowds drawn to Oak Creek. Thankfully, it is day use only and nights are cool and quiet. The creek is why I rented the house, so the crowds were expected

AC is not working and windows are painted shut. Bedrooms were at 95 degrees so we slept in the screened in porch. Bring multiple fans!

The mattresses were very dirty and bare, not even a mattress protector on them. The bathrooms windows were exposed, no curtains and you couldnt lock the doors.Lots of room but very bare.I thought it was a lot of money per night for a place that was almost abandoned. There was no place to put the garbage, we had to take it with us and they ask you to mop and sweep and do everything that wasnt done! There is no Wi-Fi so better have a good service carrier

We've been here a couple times before and it has definitely been spruced up since our last visit (over a decade ago) so that made it much nicer. It's a truly beautiful quiet spot with stunning views. However we happened to be there when it was very cold (including a cold wind) so couldn't really sit outside to enjoy the patio. The main room of the house was also on the cool side for sitting relaxing; we had brought extra blankets and heat packs thank goodness but not sure I'd visit in winter again. Some good hiking close by but as we were with my nearly 90-year old dad that wasn't feasible for us on this visit; next time!

The location is incredible but the booking process and the cabin could use some updating. Having an address on the automated booking emails, adding window coverings, and giving guests the ability to control heat within a predesignated range would take this cabin from fair to excellent.
