These sites are no longer hidden gems, but they're still gems. Right near all the great Sedona trails, yet hidden away in a lovely area where you don't have to deal with the recent overcrowding of Sedona. And you're literally right on the creek. The camp hosts I've interacted with the couple of times I've been here have been super friendly and very accommodating. I wish this was still a well kept secret, but since it is no longer I can't recommend this site enough for Sedona trips.

First of all, I wanted to say that the description should stress that the sites are for group camping. Otherwise, one night for $120 is expensive for a family with 1-2 tents, especially that the facility is not well equipped at all. Pit toilets and even no water to wash your hands after using the bathroom. No shower or laundry. One more annoyance was that no address of the campsite was given and if you search up Chavez crossing in Google Map, it gives you two locations. The WRONG one had recreation.gov in its description.

Wonderful and tranquil site right next to the famous creek! The camp manager is super friendly and helpful. Saw some coyotes at night. The neighbor campers were pleasant and quiet. I cannot be happier with this campground. Highly recommend!

Love this campground. You are right on the creek. We brought inner tubes and the kids had so much fun going down this patch of creek. We always find the best bugs here too! 5-6 long stick bugs, praying mantis too! Bring your hammock and enjoy the deep shade by the creek!

Perfect campground for groups of any size. Facilities (restrooms) were very clean, drinking water taps were functional, and all grills, fire pits, and benches were in great condition. Each campsite is against Oak Creek so you can hear the water rushing at night which was really nice. The campsite is an easy 10 min walk + small climb to some extraordinary Raven Caves that overlook the valley. The campsite is also conveniently very close to town, so grabbing extra food/supplies is super easy.

Great camp ground. Close to town, but still private and right by the creek.

Camp host "Margaret" was absolutely a pleasant and helpful host . We love Chavez Crossing and we're with a group that grew each day of the week of our stay to 85 on Saturday night. Others had the location booked on different days for our groups. The camp was clean and facilities were well maintained every day of our stay. We are planning another trip for next year at that time.

Had a great time at this campground the big oak trees and the creek nearby is a beautiful scenery and backdrop to camping. There are multiple grills and two fire places that are big enough to host a large group.

The campground is very close to urban Sedona, right next to “Poco Diablo” resort. There are only three sites, and I think they are thought to be for big groups, so it is nice that you have a lot of space on your site. Each spot has 2 fire rings and two picnic tables. There are water spigots at each site as well. Sycamore (the site we stayed at) is right on front of the host site and also the closest to the river. The bathrooms are impecable! Very very clean and even though they are compost, there’s no smell whatsoever. The host couple are very sweet and have two very cute Westies that might come to say hello. We love dogs so we didn’t mind it. There are javelinas around so be careful to keep your food safe (there are not Bear boxes). I would say, if you are looking to be more disconnected from society and the noise of the urban environment, this might not be the best choice as it’s very very close to all the happenings of Sedona, but it’s is for sure a great spot to crash if you came to Sedona to do all the hikes that are around.

The description of this campground is extremely misleading. For the price of the stay, find somewhere else. This campground is advertised as camper, trailer, and RV friendly. It is....if it isn't busy or if the campground doesn't have the person who runs the campground parked with their fifth wheel in the only spot to turn around. Mind you, the people who run the campground were SO great. They expressed their frustration as well with how the campground is listed when there is very little chance you can turn around without completing a multi point turn involving the need to back up a lot. If you are advanced with your trailer or camper, go for it. If you are like me who can back into a space pretty easily but lengthy backing up is difficult....save your stress. For no hookups, vault bathrooms, and the lack of space to park your camper...I will not be coming back. The park service placed large boulders on the sides of the driveway all around the campground. These previously weren't there so backing into the campground space and parking was a lot more spacious and easy. For Sedona, I guess they can get away with $50 per person per night for these conditions, but anywhere else, this would be $15 or $20 per night, period. This is a better place for vans, car camping and tent camping only. I love Sedona, we'll be back again at a different campground.

Fantastic campground. Perfectly placed. Already planning a return trip.

The campsites are huge and spaced out from each other. Bathrooms are clean, drinkable water on our site, and the campground is beautiful with a creek right next to you. Note the reservation says motorhome up to 25ft but we called and Ranger said up to 40. We fit our 31fter no problem. The location is perfect, tucked away but close to everything!

The hosts were the best part as they were incredibly helpful with our motorhome, firewood for purchase, and anything we needed! Thanks Jill and Darren!

Really beautiful spot right on Oak Creek!

The website says that it can accommodate 20' RVs and that is not the case. We had two smaller pop-up campers and the only place for us to park was on the road. Thankfully we were in spot 3 so we were able to stay out of the way. It also said that 10 cars could park at our spot and we have no idea where 10 cars would have gone especially if the other 2 campsites had their max amount of cars.

So beautiful site. Great use of Oak Creek....but it is pretty much a tent only campsite despite what the website says.
