It was very tidy and clean. They do have a shower and sinks during the summer. They did have the water turned off when we stayed but its nice to know for future stays. The road was bumpy but nothing crazy, overall easy to get to. The cabin is very cute and has 5 beds if you count the futon. You get a propane stove and fridge. They have a trail south of the cabin, we saw deer and tons of birds. They had a grill and fire pit with a grill. Large groups for this cabin would be great! They are also dog friendly! They did have a secret little cave nook and that looks like a cool place for telling stories and hanging out. Everything was really well stocked and we loved our stay!

Fernow cabin was beautiful. The location is very private and secluded. The cabin was a lot bigger than expected. It was great having water for dishes and a fridge. There are several trees perfectly spaced for hanging a hammock and watching the birds run up and down the trees. Our dog loved having so much area to explore within the perimeter fence. The stories captured in the notebook from previous guests make a good read.some a bit spooky. Loved our three days and will definitely be back. Thank you Forest Service for making this possible!

The cabin is very secluded and nearby to the Jenga rocks. It was very beautiful around the cabin and super quiet. Loves my experience there.

The road in to Fernow Cabin did not seem as bad as some had said, although that always depends on grading. If you are coming from Sedona, Google Maps will try to route you off 89A to the West up a Forest Service road- I would advise against this based on the info I got from a local hunter and 2 visiting hunters that came that way from Sedona and said the road is very rough. Wooddy Mountain Rd (FR231) is your best option for nearly all vehicles. The cabin is pretty well equipped, but the coffee maker options are not great- bring your own French press, pourover, etc. The bed is really the major drawback- they need to replace the foundation and mattress on the lower level before it deteriorates further. If you are looking for things to do in the Guidebook, note that many of the page are from many years ago and some fires have gone through the area making the roads rougher and trails harder to navigate. Do your planning ahead of time before getting to the cabin. We went to Kelsey Spring Trailhead and taking the long way around was good, but the last 2 miles is VERY rough even with our Tacoma with A/T Tires and solid driving skills. There was Verizon LTE service near the cabin, not at the cabin... either hiking out to Rim (2mi) or sections of FR231, BUT we have a weBoost on the truck. Even with this- no service at cabin. We went in the offseason and had no running water, but it was a very enjoyable time and we did go well prepared for how basic and "off grid" the cabin would be and have a vehicle that is capable of exploring the roads around the area.

Fernow cabin was everything we were looking for! Great location, excellent accommodations stocked with games, firewood and good times! Would return 100%! Not to mention just by, Edge of the world with some amazing views!

Cabin was very well supplied with more than we expected. Good dry wood supply and cleaning supplies. Loved the signage to the cabin since there are not many signs. Beautiful setting and so so quiet. Road in was very rough.

We love this cabin and being able to be "off the grid" but yet close enough to Sedona or Flagstaff should we want to go.

We absolutely loved staying 1 night in this cabin! The meadow was gorgeous and fun to explore. We cooked dinner and breakfast over the open fire outside and enjoyed the comfort of the cabin and vault toilet. We were pleasently surprised to see how well stocked it was with supplies from all the guests coming prepared and leaving leftovers. We will be back again!

Perfect little escape for a few nights. The family and I enjoyed a nice slow paced few days at Fernow Cabin. It was great to see our boys out exploring and connecting with our surroundings. We live here in Flagstaff so this was an easy getaway. We packed a few necessities and headed out. I will definitely be visiting here again. The cabin provided in my opinion the necessary conveniences for a comfortable stay. If you’re looking for a modern retreat this is not it! I highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet getaway. Plenty of hiking, exploring on back roads and lots of wildlife to see. Thanks for the experience.

Everything about the cabin wells above expectations. Just make sure there is plenty of firewood (we brought extra) and that you keep food and drinks (powdered) in a mouse proof container.

We love this cabin very much. Everything was super clean and exactly as described. The coffee pot is actually a broken stove-top percolator so I'd recommend bringing your own system (French Press or over the mug drip system). There was a lot of vehicular traffic on the road, mostly hunters, so we opted to hike along the road that goes out the back of the cabin, which was beautiful. We only saw one car on the back road. Be sure to bring your food in a large plastic tub to secure in the evenings as there was obviously some rodents snooping about at night.

Love the cabin but the stack for the furnace leaks smoke INTO the cabin. We were smoked out and couldn't stay there. I hope they fix it.

This is a wonderful cabin with everyhthing you need (except bedrolls and towels) in an exquiste, beautiful setting. A true gem. Huge thanks to the Forest Service for maintaing and making Fernow Cabin available!
