Observatory Campground has always been a good place to camp and get up into the trees from San Diego. I had the unfortunate timing of camping out during a heat wave, where the days hit the upper 90s, with crystal clear skies and minimal breeze. The nights were fantastic, though, the Milky Way just sparkled, and made for some very good astrophotography opportunities.

It was a Really great experience. The only drawback was that there was a homeless guy that hiked all the way up to this camping area to take a shower. He said he needed a ride back to the general store. We took him there once we were unloaded.

Campground is wonderfully laid out and great for stargazing. There was no camp host to buy firewood and the bathrooms and showers were locked which put a damper on our weekend. There is a general store down the street to buy firewood and the non flush toilets were open, if you brought your own TP. Hopefully they will consider opening the bathrooms and showers to give people a more enjoyable stay.

Great locations in proximity to observatory. Only one set of restrooms were open, showers were closed and there was no water at all in the campground. Understandably the weather plays a big part, however I just wish there was some communication regarding this. Overall, I will definitely come back.
The pit toilet bathrooms where the only ones open as the flush toilet ones were locked. The pit toilet bathrooms where the most awful bathrooms we have ever been in, not only were they not cleaned but flies galore! Just awful! The fire pits were taped up with red tape for no use and the camp host was non existent. The campgrounds were not cleaned before arrival and the reservation tags on the sites were from early October. The campground was full of loud obnoxious party going campers at all ours of the night minus one nice fellow next to us. The area was nice though and the star gazing was pretty good.

The showers and some of the bathrooms were out of order. Also, there were ants. Otherwise, great location.

Location is beautiful. No camp host. Some sites were completely overgrown with weeds. Bathrooms full of flies. Needs some TLC
