the previous people left huge mess. There were trash and stuff all over. There were also a scary lump of melted nylon in the firing. after cleaning up the ring I think the nylon stuff was disintegrated tent poles (the nylon stuff were probably from the tension cord that were inside the tent poles). I LOVE fry creek and Observatory campground. I go there often. I was married at Bailey's resort just a few mils away. Im sad to see the campground getting more and more littered and abused. Especially after the COVID pandemic.

Beautiful camping area, this campsite is just up a VERY steep hill and it was not fun lugging camping gear up this hill. Would probably not pick this specific spot in the future, but will definitely return to this campground!

My family and I had a great time. Very clean and nice. Will definitely be camping there again! HAPPY CAMPING!

DO NOT GET CAMPSITE NUMBER 2! IT’S A JOKE! THERE’S ONLY ENOUGH FLAT GROUND FOR A SINGLE PERSON TENT, THE REST IS SLOPPED ON A HILL! I HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH MY FAMILY AFTER GETTING GEARED FOR THE TRIP! THEY NEED TO CANCEL THIS SITE PERMANENTLY OR GRADE SOME GROUND ….

Sites #1 & 2 are up a *very* steep hill that you are not able to drive up to. It was very difficult to carry all of my stuff up there especially on my own. Other than that the sites were beautiful and fairly well spaced. It wasn’t super crowded. The trail is absolutely TERRIBLY marked, I honestly would not recommend taking this trail at all. We got lost and it was extremely difficult to get back to the trail, the markers were few and far between and it’s hard to even see the trail at all at multiple points when there are leaves falling.

The campground is really confusing as to which site was ours, numbers on parking spaces are almost gone. Maybe a small post with the numbers would be helpful. The side of hill was really slick and hard to carry out stuff up. Maybe some steps would be good also.

During COVID time, only site 2 was able to be reserved in the site area 1-4. Sites 1, 3 and 4 were closed. Take site 1, if possible and the rangers don’t kick you out of it, since it’s the biggest, flattest and best site in that area. The flies were numerous in the early morning and mid-late afternoon. And the Observatory is closed until further notice. Otherwise, Fry Creek is a peaceful mountain campground that I’ve been enjoying for 30 years.
