Not the best campsite, the one across from us was a lot nicer and flatter. There wasn't much of a designated parking spot, nor a spot for the tent. It was mostly just a fire ring, picnic table, and grill with a fully rusted out bottom. There are still plenty of flies and mosquitos in August. The campground map is not the most accurate. All that being said, it was shady with excellent weather. The vault toilets weren't too bad. It was a very short drive up to the Observatory. There are a couple locations along the roadside to buy firewood at $1/piece. Next time I would probably choose a spot at the very end of the road, deepest into the forest.

It is a nice little campground. It does get cold in the winter months, there isn't a lot of sun exposure. Might be best during the warmer months to escape the heat.

Stayed in site 9. Easy to access, table, grill, and fire pit. Most of the site was sloped but there was enough flat area to pitch a tent, could probably have fit a 2nd one. Lots of bugs this time of year so definitely recommend a mosquito net.

this specific area had great natural shade from trees, no showers, and bathrooms were pretty bad, no TP. only one shower @ observatory worked.
