Very quiet and peaceful. Plenty of shade. We walked out of the campground entrance, across the road, and picked up a marked trail to the Observatory campground where we picked up the trail to the actual observatory. Made for a nice hike without having to drive anywhere. You can also hike into the State Park from the top of Fry Creek campground. Very enjoyable.

Really cool location for tent camping but they really need to step up and fix a lot of the sites. Most of the sites do not have a flat tent pad, not even close to flat or big enough for more than a 2-person tent. Get a bobcat or something up here and fix these sites for us, I looked at many of them. Also, there was no sign of any camp host, I arrived early and never saw one. Camp neighbors congregated 5 cars and 7-8 tents into one area and had a party of 30+ people blasting music til after 11p and started again before 8a; so much for enjoying some peace and quiet in nature they ruined our experience more than sleeping on a slope did.

The campground map is deceptive and I was half a mile from the rest of our group. The campsites were steep in some areas getting from the car to the camp area. My daughter had trouble at campsite #2. The tent area at #18 was not fully level and I rolled downhill the whole first night. Other than that the campsites are very beautiful.

The sites were spread out, but a little bit sloped, as they are tucked into a canyon. The bathrooms were well kept, and we enjoyed our time there!

Our site was in a steep slope which was bad. We had never been to Fry Creek so we didn’t know what sites were good. The bugs were terrible, otherwise it was a great experience
